I know that some people are doing it really hard over in the States with extreme cold.

Here in Australia we're having an unprecedented heat-wave.  Up where I am, in the sub-tropics, we had several days well over 100F (in the early 40s C) between Christmas and New Year.

Now down South has had a week of it, which is really weird. Temperatures have reached 48C (118C) in inland Victoria.

Have you had any extremes?

We were a bit below zero last week for awhile and then, by this past Saturday, we were well above normal temperatures at 50 degrees. Quite the swing.

Stay cool, Mani!

I've seen the fire warnings for Australia. :( Amost 46° C in Adelaide? Australia heatwave prompts fire alerts

We've been very fortunate so far this winter. It's been pretty mild with some rain. Everybody is expecting the hammer to fall in February and for it to snow over Easter, because these temperatures (6-7°C/mid-40s F) aren't normal for December and January.

The fires are getting out of control, unfortunately..

It's actually not bad now, up where I am.. just the usual low 30s.

Earlier this week it was in the 60s!  I had my kids outside burning off some energy while the weather cooperated.  It poured the next day.  We also had the bitter cold; but not quite as bad as other places in the US.  I heard something about another wave of arctic air headed this way.  DH has to be in and out of the weather all day long for work.  I really feel sorry for people whose jobs require things like that!

This time of year, NC is subject to extreme. We just never know which way. They always say if you don't like the weather, spend the night. It will be different tomorrow.

Summer last year, at least here, was mild but the year before it was really hot and humid.  It wasn't nearly as hot as what you are having there though.  I actually deal better with cold weather than I do with heat and humidity, of course it gets too extreme either way and it becomes difficult or dangerous to be out in it.

That's what they say about my home State of Tasmania... there can be four seasons in a day.

I hope it has cooled off a bit and the fires have subsided!

We had the extreme cold here, then there was a warmup into the 50's. For the past little bit we have had normal temperatures, but by tonight it is going to be extremely cold again, with snow tomorrow night.

Thinking of you, all snuggled up.
I do enjoy winter as the cats are much more cuddly..

The fires have been terrible, but they seem to have most of them under control.

We're heading for a week of around 35C temperatures (95F) this week.  A friend of mine was saying to me that 35C is the new 30C (once 30C was a hot summer's day.. now it's considered reasonable).

They had to remake the weather maps last year, adding a rung to the colour chart to allow for temperatures of over 50C (122F).

They give us information about your extreme heat, but it's a little unreal when we're in the middle of winter down here! We, too, are in the middle of an extreme drought here in South West Nebraska, at our town we were once again almost 10 inches under normal rainfall, and when your normal is 19 inches a year, that's a lot! We've had two, two inch snows this winter so I'm afraid it is still going on. Our temperature yesterday was 68 degrees, highs this Thursday will be in the teens! We are pretty used to extreme swings in the weather down here, but I do feel sorry for the animals. I'm at the point where I'm wishing for a blizzard, now that's something!

Looks like we're having the same weather. It's getting really cold again with more snow on the way. I don't actually mind the snow so much, but I'm really sick of just how cold it's been. Minu 23C & 24C overnight. Plus the nasty windchills. Makes it hard to do anything outside.

I remember that! I cannot comprehend that kind of heat. Those fires look awful too.

I am in the northeast corner of US and we are going to have single digit for the next 120 hours. Expecting to hit under zero the next 3 nights. Those poor outdoor strays.

Wow, that's unusual for Philadelphia, isn't it?

Well I went out and walked my neighbour's crazy dog today. -18C and I was sweating! Good thing I wasn't wearing my thermal underwear either. I've learned from experience with him that I'll end up running to keep up. :lol3:

I was out and about later on in the day and wearing a more fashionable outfit, so got cold pretty quickly. You learn to dash to and from the car and become very efficient when outside!

Our low for the week is 14F in Memphis, and our high for the week is supposed to be 52F. Nothing too crazy here, but that low is cold for our area.
