Well, my cat has decided to be a stubborn cat, and not eat any dry food anymore, which I suppose is better.  However in the past few weeks, even though the food is nearly the same everytime (Friskies Indoor) her poos are becoming ever more noxious.  I even cut out the fishy foods, as someone told me those can really smell.  I noticed today her poo is a little, well... soft at some points.  At least it appears that way, I did NOT touch it, but it was a lighter brown.  Man I so hope no one is eating while reading this!

More details, she has a covered litter box, with clumping litter with baking soda, and I also put in some anti-smell stuff for cat litter that I bought at Big Lots.  The box is also in the bathroom. Even with the fan on, the door mostly closed, and a room air freshener right outside the bathroom, the whole apartment smelled like she pooed in the vents and left it there for a week.  ( Impossible since all vents are on the ceiling haha)  Oh yes I also noticed she decided to leave it uncovered, the snot.

So, in conclusion, what can I do???

I mean in good news I will lose weight if this continues since I can't eat with that smell, but in bad news, I can't have anyone over!!!

Thanks all, and I am sure my smelly cat and myself will appreciate any help, no matter how silly it sounds.  I am willing to try it!

When I first got my cat, she was used to eating just dry food. When I introduced her to wet food, it gave her bad poos at first. She has now got used to the wet food but I still give her mostly dry because it seems to upset her stomach the least.

to TCS!

Stinky poo is usually related to the food eaten. Perhaps the Friskies doesn't really agree with her; it could have an ingredient other than fish which is causing the smell. The Friskies Indoor has brown rice. Perhaps giving her one of the types without rice, like the classic patés, would help.

if you're having trouble with her covering her #2's, that can lead to stink central. My cat Jet is the same. she doesn't bury her waste and my whole room stinks. I'm in the process of buying a litter box with a transparent cover, as i've noticed that when i uncover the litter box, she doesn't have problems burying her business. when its covered, maybe she can't see so well. You might want to think about leaving it uncovered to see if that helps with her burying her waste. If that fixes the problem of her burying, u might want to consider having an uncovered litter box, or one with a transparent cover.

as far as the smell, you should look into her diet. Friskies is the last thing i'll feed my cats. aside from them hating it, and throwing up, every time they did eat it, it gave them the worlds most stinkiest poos omg.

Yes, food is often the culprit in stinky poos especially if the cat is indoors.
I agree with jcat--try some of the Friskies PATE or you could also try some of the Fancy Feast CLASSICS. Most of them are grain free and as such low carb. But read the label, just because it is "grain free" doesn't mean it is low in carbs. Peas and corn aren't grains but are carbohydrates. Cats can be allergic either or peas/corn.
And, a cat can develop an allergy to a food ingredient. Kind of like you can develop an allergy to, say, penicillin. (First time my twin sister got a shot she swelled up; the doctor told my parents, the next time, she'll die.)
PS: Ritz will bury her poop, but sometimes not her pee. Go figure!

Ha ha! We've all been there!

It really smells!

I agree with earlier threads, the food is the culprit.

Try a grain-free food, like Wellness Grain-Free Salmon if your cat likes fish.

Fish doesn't always means smelly poo, it can mean something is funny with your cat's digestive system.

Try different foods, or try gently switching to dry food if maybe the wet food's upsetting your cat's belly.

Best of luck!

I agree with those recommending grain-free. The more protein and the less fillers, the better. Cats don't need carbs and they don't need vegetables, so these things just get processed out which increases the amount and odor of litter box gifts. Fancy Feast Classics are, in my opinion, better than the more expensive brands that pack in vegetables, rice, and carrageenan in addition to guar gum. Guar gum is the only really objectionable ingredient in FFC, imo.
