Hi
One of my cats has a issue with hair loss. She is nearly 2 years old. And keeps happening. I have been to the vets a few times. She has been flead an wormed an even given steriods on a few occasions but its not helping. It doesn't make any difference. She loses her hair at the bottome of her back and her tail has thinned out as well. She is her self. Well eating. Everything a cat should do. But I don't no why the loss of fur. At this point feels like I am at the vets constantly. Her fur did grow back. But it has gone again at the start of december.

Does she scratch there a lot? Or groom herself excessively? She could have some kind of allergies, either environmental or food-related.

No I don't think its excessive. She has always been good at keeping her clean. She not keen on being brushed but she's always been like that. Do vets test for all that kind of things

Allergy tests are not very effective for cats. You can do elimination trials at home though. What is current diet and is she exposed to common allergens like cigarette smoke?

How does the hair loss happen? Does it fall out in noticeable clumps or are there just suddely appearing bald patches?

She is curently on cat an ktten food as my younger cat is only 7 months. I get both go cat an whiskas cat/kitten food plus they get sachet. Which is either felix or whiskas. And they do get treats as well. I also give them goats milk instead of normal cows milk. Its uht an I either get the blue(full fat) or the green one which is (semi skimmed). She has been exposed to cigarette smoke. But I have recently quit. Wouldn't if it had been the smoke though wouldn't it have happened from when I got her. But it only started after she was 1 years old. Could there be any chance it could be body sprays or air freshners. I don't spray them while there in the same room. But it goes every where doesn't it. Just an idea

No niether. It gradually starts off in one little area an gets bigger over a few weeks. But I have not noticed her clean or scratch at her self on that area .no More than she usually does. It is in patches though. Last time it just went away. An when I noticed it the first time it was patchy bald spots. So took her to vet. I have took her a few times since its came back but nothing seems to be helping that they are giving her. And I don't really want to take her back as she's really quiet scared of the vet. She gets very clingy with me when I take her. And doesn't come near me for a few days after but I took her for them to help. I don't seem to be getting very far. The only times she hasn't stayed away is when she has been injected with steriods. Makes her very sleepy. But it hasn't helped.
