hello ...i have 2 bengals and live in the countryside ...i live on my own but my daughter aged 12 visits every day...within the last 5 months we have had a stray cat been coming along which our 2 cats has befriended..we started to feed this cat as well as it looked terrible...after a while it started occassionally coming in the house to keep warm and sat on the settee next to the radiator all the time downstairs ...my cleaner used to shoo it out but it was canny and blended in...i was happy it was ok and it never did any of its business in the house and soon looked more back to health...

just before xmas i noticed i hadnt seen it for a while and presumed it had moved along ....we were away for xmas but when i came home my daughter mentioned a funny smell her room and when i checked was some cat poo under her bed which i cleaned up...it wasnt for another 2 days having checked again under bed i noticed the shape of a cat and to my horror it was this cat which we had named smokey ...we are devastated about this and how it has come to its end not only in my house but under my daughters bed ...she refuses slleep in there now and we have had fall outs with the cleaners as we had prewviously discussed closing doors ./..this poor cat who had become a friend was now dead and although it was  a stray feel aggrieved ...how long would it have been there before it died ??...

Lets hope it was sick, and hid there. This is btw my guess, otherwise you wiould probably find more poo and pee.

If so, it could go rather quickly, perhaps even just hours.

Otherwise if he happened to be closed in there fully healthy, you dont want to know.

I'm very sorry for the loss of the cat.  I feel terrible for both you and your daughter.  I know this is a very traumatic experience for her.  You are very compassionate to worry about how long the cat suffered, but please understand that you didn't do anything wrong.
