Does anyone have any experience with 4 Corners Pharmacy online? My 7 1/2 year old tortie Sparrow may need to go on Flovent for her asthma - it flared pretty badly recently last month. Usually a steroid shot gets it back under control, but as the shot is wearing off, her wheezing is getting awful again. We're doing prednisolone first, but if she isn't under control after this, the vet wants her to switch to an inhaler because it will minimize the side effects of the steroids.

The prices seem pretty reasonable there compared to elsewhere (at the Walgreens here it would be $89.95 for an inhaler, whereas it's $50ish for the same number of uses there), but aside from seeing a mention of them on a feline asthma site, I have no idea what their reputation is. I'm going to poke around online, but I figured I'd ask here first.

(Also, any ideas on how to talk to my cats about scheduling crises so I'm not at the vet three times in one week? lol I feel like I've been there with one cat or the other every week since early November.)

I wish I could help you, but unfortunately I have no experience buying meds for kitties.

I unfortunately have no experience with that pharmacy.  I am fortunate to have my dad who is a semi-retired vet who can order the inhalers at a decent price for me.

I've had decent experiences with www.diamondbackdrugs.com which is a online veterinary compounding pharmacy.

One of the things I like about them is you don't have to be a vet to get an email or phone estimate.

You found Flovent for $89 at Walgreens? Your profile says you're in California. I am too. Would you mind telling me where that was? When I checked around, the price was double that. I'd happily pay $89 for a local source.

It turns out I was looking at the wrong dosage when I was calling around. It ended up being $187 for the inhaler I needed. Sorry to get your hopes up! :(

Luckily she's doing well enough on it that the vet thinks we can cut the number of puffs soon.

My cat Leo has asthma, was on a generic Flovent (Flucosine) using the Aerokat, and we ordered from Canada Drugs Online on the recommendation of our vet- she said it's the least expensive place she's aware of.  The inhaler is $35, with $10 shipping, and comes from India, so it takes about a month to receive it, and you will receive it certified mail and will have to sign for it.  Here's how it works:  go to the website, order your inhaler, then have your vet clinic fax a prescription to them.  Once CDO receives your prescription, they will call you to verify your order.

The inhaler works great for a lot of cats, but we had to stop because there was something in it that really irritated Leo's throat, and made his breathing actually worse.  We are now on 4.5 mg of pred every other day, along with a half tab of 10mg Zyrtec, and a 1/4 tab Cerenia (it reduces inflammation) every day, and that seems to be working great.

After Sooty (my landlady's cat) was DXd with FA I joined the Feline Asthma Inhaled Medicine (FAIM) Yahoo group (over 2,000) members which is a wealth of experience and information. Four Corners is very well recommended as a good source of reliable meds. The more units you order the bigger the discount. You don't mention the dosage but one 110mcg canister is $34.50, two-$64.80, three-$89.70 and so on. Each canister contains 120 (118 taking in considering the first 2 doses are used for priming the unit. So three canisters equal just under 6 months of twice daily dosing.

Shipping is free but takes 2 weeks to arrive. Here is their info page:
http://www.4cornerspharmacy.com/t-about.aspx

And pricing:
http://www.4cornerspharmacy.com/p-398-flixotide-cfc-free-125mcg-inhaler-fluticasone.aspx
FYI Flovent 110 is equal to flixotide 125.

Always make sure wherever you order that you're getting flixotide CFC as the Accuhaler will not work with Aerocat.

FAIM has labels in their resources you can tape to the unit for counting down the puffs so you don't end up giving your kitty un-medicated puffs of air at the end. They also have a very helpful list of Flovent sources and prices so you can compare prices yourself.
Hope this will be helpful to someone.

I cared for an elderly tom (rescued by the same landlady and adopted by me when I moved to Tucson - 11 years later I'm back in Northern California) with FIV and chronic renal failure (CRF) who required human meds for his anemia and subcutaneous fluid therapy. It was a google group for feline CRF that showed me that online sources were the way to go and answered my many questions. He was able to live comfortably for 4 more years til cancer returned at age 17. Such is the value of email groups specializing in a pet ailment. If you decide to join and the emails start blowing up your email account, you can choose to read online or get daily digests.

Best of luck from Renee and Sooty Silverstone aka Vixen or Shweetie

Thank you so much for the advice! I've been nervous about ordering from anywhere outside the U.S., but I don't know how much longer I can afford $180 for an inhaler. I will definitely give 4 Corners a second look.

Yes - a reputable site. I bought all of my cats asthma medicine there for the last several years. It is called flixotide on that site. I started with treatments 3 times a week but eventually graduated to twice daily inhaler treatments. Unfortunately he passed away  January of this year. But lived a longer time thanks to the treatments .  Also the aerokat inhaler (i think that is what it is called) is definitely worth the investment. Good luck!

Yes, I've ordered  from them for many many years.  Their prices are among the lowest on the web, and shipping is free.  Some of these places are low priced, but really get you on shipping.  And their customer service is second to none.

Yes, I have been using them for years. My cat was using Flovent and Albutirol (sp?) and although it is called a slightly different name (British name), the medicine is exactly the same. Service is great, very professional, etc. They are under British rule, so the medicines may vary slight in the name only, they are so much cheaper. My Flovent at Costco was $220. I could get it for $35 from here.

Hi,

I am having trouble finding the website to four corners. Can you send me a direct link? Everything that I have found sends me somewhere different. My cat needs to be put on flovent asap and I've called around and everything is soo expensive. Cheapest I found was 170. Please let me know. Thank you!

It looks like the 4 Corners web site changed names. See this post: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/290913/flovent-cat-asthma#post_3677755

I highly recommend double checking with members of the Feline Asthma Group just to be sure that it is the right pharmacy web site. The asthma group web site is https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/felineasthma/info

I used 4 corners pharmacy for years - but now it looks like they are out of business. Help! Has anyone found a reliable alternative?

Yes!  I have ordered the same product from them...was a fraction of the price and they shipped direct to me....would definitely order from them again!  Best of luck!  It works wonders for my cat.  Although my vet says that something in our environment is causing the asthma and once we figure out what that is he should have no more attacks.
