On Wednesday she vomited. She faintly meowed before she did, that was a little unusual. Usually when my girls meow before vomiting it is because they don't feel good and not just a hairball. There was a hairball in it, so I thought maybe it was just a hairball. I did keep an eye on her the rest of that day because something felt off. That was the only vomit of the day. Hours later towards evening I checked on her. She had muccoid diarrhea all over her hind end. She is a long haired cat. So I trimmed all the fur in that area because I couldn't just wipe it all out with a wet cloth. I didn't want to bathe her for fear of stressing her out even more. Then I held her for a long time and she took a nap. She left and climbed up to her tree to her favorite top shelf bed and slept. I kept looking at her from where I was, and noticed that her breathing seemed funny. When she got up and went to the pottybox she passed a little more mucous. She did that a few times over the evening. I held her for a while and her breathing was really shallow. I called the vet and he told me based on what I was seeing he thought she would be okay over night. To bring her in first thing the next morning.
I took her in the next morning and she looked terrible. She had started purring again, and it was weak and soft. She is a strong loud purrer. I will skip ahead to today's update.
They have been syringe feeding her over the last few days. A privately run cat shelter has been helping out with her care, so my bill isn't super expensive.
Just talked to the Vet about MyRage. ... She is still not eating. Her stools are starting to firm up. She didn't vomit over night. She still has no appetite even with the appetite stimulants. She is on probiotics, antibiotics, appetite stimulants and anti nausea medication. She has been given the subqutanious something (Some special fluids). The vet thinks she looks jaundice, but others disagree. Her previous bloodtests all look good, but they are doing some today just to compare. We are at a point where we can either keep her at the vet for force-feeding until she has an appetite again or bring her home and I can do it. Or... exploratory surgery. That can tell us a lot. See what is in there that may be a partial blockage. See if there is a growth that may be cancer. Etc. I am so unsure of what to do. The vet said that she seems to be feeling better. Active, alert, curious and happy. She just won't eat. We need lots of prayers, for her to get better and for me to get that higher paying full time job. She is my baby. If the vet thought she was suffering and I thought she was suffering, I would let her go in a heartbeat. I cannot live with the guilt of letting her suffer and have no quality of life.
I just don't know what to do now. I am lost. I am scared if she comes home that I won't be able to care for her properly.
I have another cat named NyghtShade. She is a 9.5 yr old manx with special needs. My roommate also has a cat, an 8 month old dilute Tortie. She is pretty active but is more interested in the humans playing with her then the other felines. She(Torr the kitten) moved in on Saturday before Rage got sick. Torr (the kitten) and they were getting along. Rage hissed a little, but they had already touched noses and hung out in the same room together for long periods of time with no incidents. They even sat on the couch at the same time, within sight of each other. MyRage is a very laid back easy going cat.
Thank you for opinions and suggestions. MyRage has never been an unhealthy cat. She fostered kittens 9.5 years ago and became very dehydrated, but other then that I have never had any health issues with her.
