of course it is!!! grain free and my cats go crazy for it!!!!!!!!!!! low cost, high protein, and grain free. no complaints here.

Not sure if i'm posting this in the right place, but i did want to let some of you know about some  SHEBA CAT FOOD sales  i've come across this week and last week! for those who want to purchase, i hope this helps!

Petsmart:

$0.50 cents a can, down from $0.59 cents a can, on all styles (pate's, mixed grills, etc)

Target:

$0.50 cents a can, down from $0.63 cents (i think), on pate styles+all flavors, buy 4 cans get the 5th one free

I went bonkers at target last night and stock piled everything SHEBA i could find. and i literally only went there for shampoo and face powder -_____-

Hope this helps you guys. i'm not sure if this sale is on all the Petsmart and target locations, but i'm living in NYC, and i'm hoping other branches and locations have this sale too! i'm sure you can always check online.

Hey - I live in NYC too. But in Brooklyn. :)

Sheba pates are pretty awesome. I find them being cheaper than Fancy Feast. I haven't tried too many of them, but their ingredients look pretty good. I'm also a fan of Nutro Natural Choice in Chunky Pate Turkey and Chunky Pate Chicken. Both are carrageenan free and no veggies, grain free. They're a bit more expensive but you can get them for .75 cents a can at Petsmart sometimes - their usual price is around 1.00 I think.

Another option is Trader Joe's canned food - it has rice and not completely grain free but their Turkey and Giblets has a nice Protein/Fat/Carb profile - I believe it was less than 10 percent carbs. They are usually around .69? for a 5.5 ounce can. I find that the Trader Joe's near Flatiron has them in stock most often.

i feed my kitties wellness grain free (i buy the huge cans) and i mix with the SHEBA (also grain free). it makes both last long. Sometimes as treats or special occasion i'll give them weruva, which has real chicken, and looks like home made chicken soup. They LOVE it. Whenever i find sheba on sale i go crazy lol. I've seen sheba at the Petsmart in downtown brooklyn (i frequently go there because i work in brooklyn). I have looked into the trader joes brand cat food, have not tried it however, i'm really trying to avoid the grains in their diets. Both my cats are fixed, and even tho they are kittens still, I want to avoid stuff that might make them gain weight : /

If you also feed your kitties SHEBA, i hope the sale helps yoU! I've seen them on sale at the petsmart in downtown brooklyn, the petsmart in downtown manhattan (bway and lafayette) and the petsmart in valley stream, as well as the target in valley stream. I usually stick to the pate style in SHEBA, as the mixed grill looks like cut up foam in gravy, instead of pieces of meat...so....yea. not giving my cats that.

You might want to try the Nutro Naturals (the two kinds I mentioned earlier) if you want to try a food that has no grains. Not only they do not have carrageenan they are also by-product free, etc.

I actually feed raw now - and try to frequent to Flushing quite often to get some goodies for the cats. Lately I haven't because it's just so far away - but since you live in Queens it might be worth it for you to check it out. I used to live in Queens also - well, closer to the border of Brooklyn and Queens.

:)

Hmmm...the closest walmart to me is in Long Island, Valley Stream (far away from work and home). But I guess i'll check it out!! I avoid going there because that particular walmart is CRAZY packed, 30-40 min lines at all times, and the place looks like a tornado passed through it...ALL THE TIME. but i'll take a look thanks for the heads uP!

If anyone has a Sam's Club membership, they're selling a 36-pack for $11-something, so only 30-ish cents a can! I don't know if this is everywhere or just the Sam's I go to, but check it out anyway. I also don't know if this is a clearance kind of thing or if that's the permanent price.

Nutro Naturals chunky chicken or turkey?  Hmm, the ingredients look good, but we're talking $1.10 Cdn for a 3 oz. can.  That's $2.20 a day for a wet meal, which put's it in line, or close to other premium 5-6 oz. brands.   Sheba is clearly a good deal for those in the U.S.  though for budget good ingredients.

Willowy, I just bought a case of Sheba at Sam's Club $13.91 for 36 cans which makes it about 39 cents per can.  Wasn't sure how my picky DeeJay would like it, but so far she seems to be eating it somewhat good.  It is the standard price for it.  My hubby saw it about a month ago, but didn't think it was very good, so he bought Meow Mix instead LOL.

I would think ANYTHING is better than meowmix, friskies (which made my cats throw up), and 9 lives, especially Sheba (in my opinion). I actually started to purchase Sheba after a thread i found here on this site, which outlined some cost effective yet mostly protein and grain free 'commercial' cat food.

I can't buy great quality food ALL the time, I'm not that rich and I literally have gone broke from it (i had a cat lady moment about a month ago after i literally had to make a choice between groceries and cat food and i got the cat food lol). But what I do now is, whenever i find a sale i ALWAYS stock up on Sheba, even if I have plenty left. And then I will buy some higher end stuff like Petsmart Authority brand cat food, or Wellness (big cans), fussie cat, weruva,  BFF 4EVA ( i buy a few cans of this, not much) When feeding my kitties I mix the two. Portion of the wellness for example, with portion of the sheba. Keeps my costs down on having to spend A LOT on the higher end foods only. and its funny because i've tried giving my kitties just the high end food and once they're done eating they both try to "bury" their bowls...which i only assume they don't like the food much but eat it anyways cus they're hungry, and both my cats go CRAZY for sheba. so it works out.

Seems like Sams Club has a great deal! but in retrospect, I don't have a membership to sams club, I don't have any sams club close to me, I would have to drive REALLY far to get to one, which means gas being used up then having to be replaced and stuff....so...in the end its comes out the same as buying from a petsmart which is a train ride away for me...so it's something I have to think about and consider. Maybe when I have to stock up on a bunch of stuff like food and litter and treats....

@cprcheetah  , did your husband or yourself remember seeing any treats at sams club? particularly Whiskas Temptations? that stuff is like cat crack and my kitties go CRAZY for it. If that's the case I might consider making a membership.

No, I don't think Sam's has kitty treats. Honestly, their pet supply selection and prices (except for the Sheba) aren't impressive. If someone didn't have a membership already, I wouldn't recommend it just for pet supplies. Prices are only a teeny bit higher at Walmart and you don't need a membership there.

The sam's club here had a box of 5 different Temptation Treats I think 2 were the same.  It was $13.48 for the box.  My cats are Temptation addicts.  The bags are 6.3oz each.

We really like the sam's club cat litter as well.  It's in a green pail, but it keeps the odors down and clumps well.

For the past year, I've been buying Sheba Perfect Portions.  I like that it is grain-free.  And the cats liked it, up until the past couple of months.  I order a month's supply from Chewy.com, so I don't have to go to the store.  I also get litter this way.  A couple of months ago, some of the tubs had leaked in the box during shipment.  In the next shipment, there were a couple of tubs that had leaked out all of the juice, and the meat was rancid.  The smell was so bad that the cats (3 ) would not eat anything that night.  Then I noticed that they were reacting to the food in ways they hadn't before.  One got diarrhea, one refused to eat, and one threw up.  I identified the offending flavor as the salmon.  But one of the cats refused to eat any of the fish flavors.  I suspect that something is going on at Mars, the maker of this food, and that there is now some quality-control problem  I informed Chewy, and also contacted Mars, which also makes Nutro Perfect Portions.  I was told that the Nutro is a better quality food.  Since it is about twice the price, I wondered if this were really true.  I checked the ingredients, and discovered that the Sheba has meat by-products, while the Nutro doesn't.  By-products can be ANYTHING that is left over after processing the meat--hair, intestines, hooves, ears, etc.  (Our version is sausage & lunch meat.)  My next order from Chewy is Nutro, and arrived today, so I'll be eager to see if the cats have the same reaction.  But I am through with Sheba.  Live and learn.

My Boys will ONLY eat Sheba! (I've tried a bunch of other brands and they turned their noses up to all of it but Sheba!)I buy the 36-can case of the pate` and it comes out to 47 cents a can because there is always a $1 off coupon inside the box along with a 1.7 oz. bag of Tempations chicken flavored treats. I get mine at Walmart. Individual cans are always just 50 cents a can there. Ironically, they prefer the chicken, beef and salmon flavors and those are the three flavors that are available in one of the 36-pack of pate.

Note: They have smaller cases of 24 per box, but tat one does not include the little bag of treats.

I bought 24 perfect portions pate at Target for $8.99, I think that is a great deal.

I have two kittens that are feral, I adopted them from a rescue, one eats the Sheeba, the other eats only dry food, which I give him Kitten Chow.

What do you tink is a better dry food ? The other kitten will not eat the dry food.
