Just wondering if anyone has tried Nutirisca low glycemic dry cat food by Catswell? It is touted as low gycemic, (9 -10 on the glycemic index), and low carb. Has no potatoes or grain and main source of protein is chicken. It does have a lot of vegetables, including peas, chickpeas, etc. I recently adopted a chubby (20 lb.) Russian Blue who was a dry cat addict and been trying to switch him over to heathy canned food, using dry food to help him transition. Wonder if Nutrisca would be a good option to substitute for the Kirkland dry I have been giving him.

Thank you so much for the referral to your post on transitioning from dry food to canned. There's a lot of excellent information there. We'd been working on those general guidelines for a few weeks, and having limited success when Smokey developed what I thought was a food allergy. In retrospect I now wonder if it may have been some sort of stress reaction. He was eating regular canned food (Blue Buffalo, Evolve) fairly well at regular mealtimes but still getting about 1/4 cup dry kibble as treats or at playtime (I throw pieces for him to "hunt".) He still was not losing weight, even though the dry food was supposedly for weight loss. While sitting in the kitchen (staring at the cupboard where the dry food is stored) waiting & hoping, he'd start scratching his neck ... causing welts, scabs & eventually bald patches. To rule out food allergies, I started making his wet food, using the recipe given on cat info.org by Dr. Lisa Pierson. The scratching stopped & fur grew back but he doesn't really like the homemade food. We are more or less back to square one, mixing in Fancy Feast to the homemade food and sprinkling dry food to entice him.  I switched to Kirkland Maintenance, since I didn't know if the original Blue Buffalo dry was causing allergy symptoms. He's still not losing weight with this system ... hence my question regarding the Nutrisca Low Gycemic dry food. I really appreciate your answer - thanks again!
