regarding hairballs.

I have a long hair female, she started coughing up hairballs at about eight years of age. The vet told me to try putting 3-4 drops of fish oil in her food , I started with a 89¢ bottle of 15 capsules. Using a safety pin to put a tiny hole in the top,one capsule will go on four meals, I give her 4 drops at breakfast and 4 at dinner. Since starting that her hair has gotten healthier & hairballs are few,even if she gets one,it's also much smaller. Hope it can help your cat.

I had never heard of this before, what a great tip. 

My kitties get 500mg of salmon oil daily. Sadly, that didn't stop the hairballs for them. I use egg yolks and egg yolk lecithin. For many cats, the egg yolk lecithin isn't necessary, just an egg yolk or two each week does the trick.
