Hi, I haven't been here for a while but I have stumbled upon something I think ALL cat owners should be aware of. One of my cats, SHADOW, was diagnosed with a nasty lymphoma under his right shoulder a couple of weeks before christmas. My local vet referred me to a place in Box Hill South called Victorian Animal Cancer Care. I took Shadow along and at this stage he wasn't looking too well at all, after an examination by Dr Maureen and an hour long consultation of all the ifs, buts and maybes about the cancer and the proposed treatments. Shadow was given several medications there and 2 tablets to have as prescribed at home. To my amazement, the following day, YES the very next day, Shadow was almost back to his normal self with the swellings disappeared and the main mass under his shoulder had shrunk by a third!!!! He has been back for a drip treatment and is still on the tablets at home but so far things are looking really good. Apparently, cats with these type of cancers, respond extremely well to treatment with around 80 to 90 % successful remissions! The cost of treatment is really quite small after the scans and so forth are completed, those being the most costly - around the $2500 mark but now each treatment, which are 3 weekly, costs around $300 and that includes the tablets!

Look them up if you want to know anything about cats and dogs with cancer, they have a website at www.vicanimalcancercare.com.au. Believe me it is worth every cent, Shadow is a spritely 16 year old and handles the treatment "purrfectly" and another thing being that cats don't get sick or lose their hair like people on chemo, in fact, you wouldn't know anything was wrong with Shadow and most other patientsd. There are a few that have mild side effects but nothing anywhere near as severe as human treatment. I hope this helps someone out there who thought cancer for their pet meant the end - this place has shown me the complete opposite!!!!

So glad to hear your cat is doing so well, that is awesome.  I have lost a kitty to Lymphoma, we didn't catch it until it was too late.
