Please I am in such a desperate situation.  My mom is very very ill and i am the only one who can care for her.  She has quite a few cats and i am trying so very hard to take care of them but it has become too overwhelming for me.   PLEASE if anyone could just take one or two to please help me.  I am so distraught watching my mom die in front of my eyes and I feel so helpless and scared.   Please i beg of anyone to help me.  I do not want to take the cats to kill shelter.  I don't know what to do.  Please anyone

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through such hard times.

I would recommend to post your plea publicly on the rescue's Facebook pages. There is a lot of traffic and crossposting going on.

It would be helpful if you can add photos and short descriptions of each cat.

Don't worry, everybody can post on their Facebook Pages if the settings allow guest postings. You could follow up (write a private message) and ask if they could do a courtesy posting as well, then it would be more prominent and visible.

Another thought: Brooklyn Animal Action helps with rehoming cats for a small fee if you can continue to temporarily house them. The requirement is that the cats are spayed/neutered and up to date with shots. If that is not the case yet, they may advise where you can do all that low-cost. (e.g, The Toby Project or ASPCA mobile clinics).

Please contact them directly for further information.

They (probably) won't have foster homes available.

Please look at this page too. it's full of information about rehoming cats:

Please do not bring the cats to a kill shelter. If they are somewhat older or shy they will likely be euthanized.

I really appreciate that you are reaching out for help. I know how frustrating it is that the shelter is actually not a "shelter" in it's literally sense. And that many rescues cannot help bc they are overcrowded already.

But please, don't give up. I'm sure it will give your mother peace in mind to know that her beloved companions for so many years are going to be  well taken care of and not taken to a kill shelter.
