Cats or Spouse/Fiancee? Who would you choose?

I chose cats because I've already chosen cats twice over men. The first time probably saved my life. The second time I told my now husband that he had to accept my cats or it was good-bye. He chose to accept my cats. The reason they're not living with us is that we can't afford to move and we can't have pets where we live (and our apartment is right next to the manager's office so we can't sneak them in).

I made a mistake when I was much younger and I gave up a cat because my EX-husband gave me the "it's me or her" ultimatum. Will not make that mistake again. My now husband was given my ultimatum before the first date: If you don't like cats don't be a part of my life. Sounds harsh but it's the reality of my life!!

My fiancee loves the cats as much as I do. The fish that we bought were to entertain the cats. But we love the fish too!

I wouldn't choose either. And thank God I don't have to make that choice!

IS the spouse making you get rid of the cats or is someone holding a gun to your head and making you choose?

ANNNNNND.... if the spouse is asking you to give up the fuzzballs, is it for their/your health or is it just to be spiteful?

Well pretend its the gun to head one...that'll make it harder.
As for the other...make it health.

Luckily for me Peter is an animal lover! So I will never have to choose between him or the cats!

I'd have to choose my cats over my husband. Hey, they were here first technically. Either love me and the furballs or find yourself a new place to live. As for getting rid of my babies, somebody would have to hold a gun to my head. And my ex-husband would be spiteful and demand that I get rid of the cats.

I have a cat loving husband so thank god I don't have to worry about that!

Fortunately, Rob is just as besotted as I, so he'll never make that demand. It would more likely be a tug of war over the cats, if WE ever split (God forbid)

This is a timely thread for me, my GF and I are likely heading to splitsville for various reasons including her allergies to all pets including my cats.

I told her back in April that my cats are not going anywhere because you have allergies, I said there is allergic medicine you can take, she refuses to take it because she hates drugs of anykind, so I said well guess yer gonna have to suffer then.

At that time I had just saved Oreo's life because he had FLUTD and as you all know it wasn't long after that I went through hell with Snoopy and her ensuing fatal liver disease. I thought, I just spent over $400 to save these two cats and yer asking me if I would get rid of them???

Yesterday I had this discussion with a friend of mine and I said asking me to get rid of my cats would be like asking me to get rid of my human kids ( if I had any) Not gonna happen.

Next GF I get, I will make sure she isn't allergic to my cats.
