Hi, my cat is pregnant & I don't know when she got pregnant but about a week ago I noticed her stomach so I I started feeling & watching & finally me & my grandmother started feeling kicks now I feel them rolling around & a pretty good kick to.
She is following me around more then ever now everywhere I go she wants to be there with me & she is very ski-dish of other people now & she never was
& I heard that she only has as many kittens as many times as she has mated with the other male?
Now my concern is that I'm not going to know when she's in labor & that she won't go to any of the spots I've picked for her, her spot that she picked is in the living room in a Corner but the thing is. Is that we have many kids running around also dogs & I know that her sister have birth to 3 cats & those cats got moved twice & she stopped feeding them & they died so I have no idea what to do on trying to get her to change her spot or how many kittens she will have or when or what it looks like when they go into labor & now get stomach is getting bigger but it hanging down a lot more then it was!!

Hi and welcome

Please consider getting your cat spayed.  It sounds like it may still be early enough in the pregnancy to do so and it would be a medically possible and good thing to do.  As it sounds like you are already painfully aware, there can be many many complications with kittens, both for the kittens and for the mother cat.  It is also much healthier for cats if they are spayed and do not need to keep having litters.

As for your other questions, it is not true that she will have as many kittens as times she mated. That's a myth.  An average litter size is probably 3 or 4 to 6 kittens, but they can have as few as one.  The biggest litter I ever fostered was 9 kittens; the average for me personally is probably 4-5 when I foster.

How she is currently acting sounds 100% normal for a pregnant cat.

As for her not going to the spots you picked for her, often but not always, you will see her nesting in the time before the birth and have a pretty good idea where she plans to go.  The best thing you can do to encourage her to go to a place is to make it soft, comfortable, warm.  A pregnancy lasts about 63 days and that is generally VERY Accurate- more than a few days in either direction and there are usually problems.. Since you don't know exactly when she got pregnant you won't know when her due date should be but once she seems to be getting far along it might be great if you could isolate her in her own room separate from the dogs and kids and give her a peaceful place to give birth and a safe place to raise the babies for at least a few weeks. Ultimately though you are probably not going to be able to make her go to a specific spot- you can only restrict her access to other rooms and make a spot as appealing to her as you possibly can.

As for signs of labor they can vary.  Often they will involve nesting.  Often a day or two beforehand the cat will seem restless or anxious. When this nesting and restlessness occurs, that would be a good time to confine her to the room you want her to give birth in. Often cats who are about to go into labor will lick their stomach and genital area a  lot.   Usually she will lose interest in food and her breathing will be different- quicker.  There may be milky discharge from the nipples, and/ or decreased activity. She may start to yowl and call out like she is in heat.  There are definitely others but these are some of the main signs.

Good luck.  Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can help in any other way.

Presumably your cat comes and goes freely.  If you allow that to continue she will get pregnant again after she has her kittens, possibly very soon after - cats can get pregnant when their kittens are only a week or two old.  So keep her in until she is spayed.  You will also prevent her having the kittens outside somewhere, and the possibility of her having an accident and leaving you bottle feeding tiny fragile kittens.

If you can feel movement she is probably in the last couple of weeks.

And it's a myth that "she only has as many kittens as many times as she has mated with the other male?".  A complete myth.

Hopefully she will have her kittens somewhere out of the way, but if not you need to stop the kids & dogs from bothering her.  Her needs should come first while she has kittens.
