Hi. I just joined this and I'm not sure if this is the right way to post something to ask a question. But, I'll try this.
My cat has been pregnant for a long time. I'm thinking she is in her 9th week. She's been nesting, licking her abdomen a lot. She eats normal. I noticed this clean discharge today. She meowed at me a minute ago, and I've never heard her meow before? She has produced milk. Do you think it's close?

ETA: 2 patched with orange and white and 2 striped with orange and white. They are precious.

Hi! Welcome to the forums

I am assuming from the ETA that she has had the kittens?

If so congratulations!

If not, then yes, it is safe to say she is very close. A typical gestation period in a cat is around 9 weeks, and if she is producing milk it is imminent.

Please let us know if you have any other questions as the kittens begin to grow, and please consider getting your cat spayed at the earliest possible opportunity.

Did she delivered while you were writing?   Congrats!

Hope mom and babies are well!

Are you going to weigh them every day?   Its wise to do so. Nice memory if everything goes well, and your best forewarning system if somthing isnt well.

Welcome to our Forum!

Good luck!

Yes, she had them 4 hours after I asked this question. They came out perfectly healthy and yes I did weight them. I'll be weighting them every week. Thanks the input!

Please weigh them daily.  During the first week, even one day of not gaining weight can be a serious warning sign that a crisis is coming, and 2 days of not gaining weight is almost always a very very serious crisis situation.

The weight gain should be at least 8-10 grams or around 1/3 ounce per day at this age. Healthy newborns gain weight steadily and rapidly.

Remember she can get pregnant again before the kittens are weaned, so keep her in and find out how soon your vet will spay her.
