It looks like acne to me too. Do you have plastic food bowls? That's a common cause for acne. I would just use warm cloths to clean it for awhile.

Yep looks like kitty acne, if you are using plastic bowls switch to stainless steel or ceramic.  You can wash the chin with a gentle antibacterial soap and then use the human acne pads on the chin.  They should have the Benzoyl Peroxide in them.  If the acne starts getting pussy then see a vet.

Yes, this certainly looks like feline acne .. I would be careful about the human grade of benzoyl peroxide you choose however, as in a lot of cases many are of a much higher concentration and therefore can be too drying and cause irritation. Your vet probably has something on hand that will be suitable, or will be able to guide you on which commercial products would be best.

Max has gotten the odd bit of acne through the years, but also gets rodent ulcers from time to time .. I just use warm salt water which helps to take down the inflammation and keep things clean.

When our Mattie had this on her chin, the vet told me buy Stridex pads from the drugstore and clean her chin with them. It worked. Also it is very important to be sure that the cat is not fed in plastic bowls and that you start with a clean bowl every time you feed.

I agree w/ everything that the others have suggested. Angel used to have that too. (but looked more like pimples)

It cleared up after changing to ceramic bowls.  The only thing I would add is if he has a plastic place mat, remove that as well.

after Angel's cleared up, he still got a little occasionally, & once I took the place mat away, that was it. No more feline acne!

Why is it that only one of my cats had this and not the other? Is that usually normal?

I have one of two brothers who seems prone to this.  I already use stainless steel bowls.  Stridex pads help and I change the bowls out often.

Did you try cleaning the chins with Stridex pads. That is what my vet told me to use when Mattie got the acne on her chin.

I've been told that this is related to how sensitive the cat is to the bowls it is eating out of, etc. I'd make sure all other water dishes/snack dishes/etc are cleaned regularly and not plastic as well, although you did already mention having switched them out. At this point, as someone else mentioned, a vet visit may be best, especially if it's getting worse.

Hmmm, kinda think the Stridex is very astringent, full of chemicals and designed for humans and will hurt kitty. You might try something natural and non toxic like coconut oil. It's good for digestion, skin, fur. Don't know if it will help acne but it won't hurt. Good luck.
