Hello! We have had a crazy 5 weeks but the feral momma is inside now along with 5 kittens. They run all over the laundry room tackling each other and me. But I thought by now they would be trying to eat the wet food. They will sometimes try and drink water but mainly just end up dunking their face and then freaking out lol. They don't care about the food at all. I have tried putting it on my finger and their paws so they would lick it off but they won't.

Should I be doing more to introduce solids? They will actually be 6 weeks Thursday

Hi

Yes, they should be picking up on solids by now. Have you tried mixing formula with the wet food? Try mixing it half and half (really mushing it together) and then heating it slightly in the microwave so that the smell will entice them and so that they might be able to more readily recognize it as food. You can also try putting some on your finger and literally placing your finger (gently!) into the kittens mouth so that he or she will have no real choice but to taste it.

Have you tried some different flavors/brands/scents?

They will pick it up soon I am sure!

My last batch of kittens from a feral momma didn't start eating solid food until they were 6 weeks old, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
