My cat's stomach has been bloated for a bit and she's been gagging ever since i found her and I've not had the time or money to take her to the vet yet (hoping next month) but I just wanted to see what you all thought it could be. Her stomach is really hard as well. Not sure if it'd be worms because I've de-wormed her.

here's a side of her belly (I'm sorry for it being blurry she kept moving.)

How long ago did you deworm her? And about how long has her belly been like this? You said a bit but is that like a week/day/month?

I'm just wondering because my friend tried to deworm her two cats because they had tapeworms (she saw little pieces of the worms in their fur a few times and their bellies were swollen), but it didn't work. She had used those tapeworm tabs you can buy at the store and followed the instructions but it just wasn't effective. Did you go to the vet to deworm her?

Is she eating/pooping okay?

I've not been able to go to the vet to get a deworm.

But she's eating ok but i'm not sure if she's pooping okay because only allowed outside.

There are a lot o different conditions that can cause bloating, FIP, Heart Problems, Parasites, Kidney Issues...this list could go on.  I'd recommend a vet visit as soon as you can.

If she's still eating okay and active, it could just be parasites. Parasites can make the stomach bloat, and I'm guessing since it's been like this for about a couple months, then it probably isn't an obstruction. If it was an obstruction, then usually it gets real bad quickly and the cat either can't keep food down or won't eat. Also, she's got pretty long hair, so I'm wondering if it might be a hairball issue? I've read that hairballs can also cause some bloating and complications. cprcheetah's right though, there are many things it could be.

Lol, oops! Also, I forgot you said that she was gagging. I'm not saying that it is a hairball issue, because it could easily be something much worse, but you may want to try a hairball supplement/laxative if you can't take the cat to the vet right away. If it's a full-on blockage though, that might not be enough to help.

I hope your cat feels better soon!

:yeah: It's not a good idea to just assume it's parasites or hairballs, as the problem could be far more serious. The gagging is worrying.

I tried to ask my shelter and the vet there and they basically said it was a hairball and I'm just like "I doubt it because she's gagging and bloated.." ._. I'm hoping it's not as bad as what we think it could be D:

Poor kitty .. Sometimes bloating can be food-related but the gagging is a different matter and when coupled with a bloated, hard stomach, sounds like it is something more involved. Has your cat been constipated lately? This would cause bloating and a firm belly. I would seek out a second opinion to rule out potential issues with fluid retention as the result of an underlying condition, asthma or possibly something that has been ingested, so your cat can receive the right treatment.
