Happy Sunday, everyone! :wavey:

Today my husband and I did something we don't normally do, we went out for a big breakfast. If we aren't on vacation, we really only go out for breakfast maybe 3-4 times a year. So today's question is two parts:

What do you normally have for breakfast? What do you normally order if you go out?

On a normal day I will normally have a low carb bagel, english muffin or oatmeal.

When I go out, it is all about the omelets. I love getting omelets with homefries and toast. Today was a ham, broccoli and cheddar omelet. :yummy:

I normally just have cereal for breakfast, but sometimes (like this morning), I'll make chocolate chip pancakes with Nutella maple syrup.

When we go out, which is exceedingly rare, we go to Cracker Barrel (a Southern country restaurant). I usually get the Old Timer's breakfast. Two eggs sunny side up with grits, thick-cut bacon (or sometimes sausage), and buttermilk biscuits with butter and strawberry and blackberry preserves. It also comes with fried apples, but I usually take those home and eat them later. Oh, and it comes with sawmill gravy that is just atrocious. Ugh. Gross. Never eat it. My dad wasn't good for much, but he could cook and his gravy... no one who's eaten his gravy could stomach what CB serves!

I don't eat breakfast food. I normally eat some chicken with a sauce and a side of beans. I just had curried meatballs.

I'm always unimpressed with the food if I eat breakfast out. When on vacation I've look for highly rated Yelp restaurants, but it never seems to do anything for me. So I end up saving some dinner leftovers if possible and heating them up in the free continental breakfast room.

Most of the time I skip breakfast because I am a late riser.  I usually call my first meal brunch (if it's eggs) or an early lunch if it's a complete meal.  If I'm up early enough, I will nuke frozen pancakes and breakfast sausages.

When we go out for breakfast, it's usually at IHOP and I have their pancakes of course with eggs, bacon and hash browns.  I won't eat pancakes at any other diner or restaurant.

During the week when I am working I usually just have lots of coffee. If I'm on one of my mini short lived health kicks I will try and have a protein shake or boiled eggs and wheat toast in the morning. Most of the days I'm up to my ears in work and woke eat till 2pm or so. As for going out to eat, I too am an omelette fan.

I agree, which is why we rarely go out for breakfast and ever only to the same place. But I have found that when I want to splurge a little, Eggs Benedict dishes can be very good if you find a place well rated for them. They're generally not cheap, though.

I don't normally like restaurant pancakes either. Though Cracker Barrel's are really good. They have crispy edges but are fluffy otherwise. Oh, man... if only I could make mine come out like that. I think the secret is a hot griddle and the double batter technique -- drop half the batter and let it solidify on the griddle, then add the other half on top of it so that it just runs over the edge. That edge become crispy and it creates a sort of pocket of fluffy goodness.

During the week I normally have just cereal on my way to work , no milk, as it's easy to eat in the car.  Usually it's Lucky Charms or Captain Crunch.  Sometimes I will have a gluten free bagel with cream cheese.  On the weekends and days off we normally have potatoes/hash browns, sausage and eggs.  I hardly ever go out for breakfast.  Last time I did it was because I was out of town.

Normally, throughout the week, my breakfast is at work and it's a sliced Granny Smith apple and a cup of black coffee. On weekends, it's just the coffee. On the rare occasions that we go out for breakfast (and I dearly love going out for breakfast), then it's usually some kind of omelet with either whole wheat or sourdough toast. And black coffee. High-octane only....I can't drink decaf.

I like Cracker Barrel's breakfasts, too, and I'll usually have the Sunrise Sampler with no grits, no biscuits, no gravy.
I love the biscuits and gravy, but it's rare that I eat them.

Now, there are times when I will make breakfast in bed for dear Richard (right around our wedding anniversary and his birthday (they're a week a part....I always tell him that he got me for his birthday that year
). Then I make some kind of French Toast with oven-roasted potatoes, sausages or a nice ham slice with red-eye gravy, etc. OJ for Rick and coffee for me.

But my regular breakfast is a GS apple and black high-octane coffee.

During the week if I have gone groceries, my breakfast and lunch usually consist of the following which I take with me to work:

Breakfast:
Special K Red Berries with lactaid milk

Banana

OR

Chocolate Glucerna and a Banana blended with instant decaf coffee, Splenda and ice

Lunch:

Sandwich

Soup

Orange or Apple

Yogurt

Snack:   Muffin and veggies

If I haven't gone grocery shopping, I buy at work:

Breakfast:

Toasted BLT

Fruit cup

Lunch:

Soup and Sandwich

OR

Taco Salad

OR

Chef Salad

Total cost for 2 meals at work is about $20!

It's been so cold here, and the one day it wasn't was Friday, but we had a major blizzard, so I haven't been to get groceries in a couple of weeks. I'll be buying my breakfast and lunch this week.

I go through stages of eating different things.  Sometimes it's peanut butter toast and a yogurt with coffee. Sometimes it's an egg sandwich.  I've noticed if I eat a good, more filling breakfast, I'll eat less that day.  If I go for a bowl of cereal I'll find myself snacking and wanting a huge lunch.

If we go out for breakfast food I go for a nice hearty meal too.  Usually something with home fries/hash browns, a couple pancakes, eggs and some kind of meat.  A little of everything I guess.  We don't go out for breakfast often.  I actually can't remember the last time we did!  Maybe when my Stepbrother graduated college a few years ago?  It rained so only a few people could go to the ceremony; so the whole family went for breakfast first.  We are more likely to do a breakfast-for-dinner meal at home if we want that kind of food.  Our favorite to make is butterscotch chip pancakes.  No butter or syrup required!!

My favourite is bacon and eggs! Though other varieties include oatmeal, bananas, croissants, cereal a la oatmeal crisp or apple cinnamon cheerios, cinnamon toast, cheese omlettes and pancakes.

If I got out for breakfast, it is usually bacon and eggs, maybe a sandwich, hashbrowns, fruit salad, muffin or a donut, depending on where I go.

*Edit* Of course, I forgot coffee! Gotta have my coffee

Toasty-O's cereal, with skim milk (I don't eat/drink the milk), 2 packets of Equal on it, 4 oz. of orange juice. I try to add a piece of whole-wheat toast and butter, as the milk that I do ingest sometimes makes my stomach a bit queasy later in the morning.  I'm usually not hungry for the toast, though.

I sometimes have a peanut butter and blackberry jam on whole wheat bread sandwich.

Sometimes, DH makes wonderful banana-pecan pancakes on the weekends, but I told him not to make any for me, as they are fattening, even though I use sugar-free syrup. He LOVES big, fat-filled breakfasts; I can't stand all that food first thing in the morning--or at any time of the day!

Usually I have a BabyBel cheese and a banana, or a Special K egg sandwich (the one with pepper jack cheese and no meat). If I go out for breakfast I want the full shebang---very crispy bacon, eggs (NO runny yolks!), hash browns, toast, etc. I'm sure this is very unhealthy but fortunately I don't go out for breakfast very often! I don't like breakfast sausage (fennel? I think is the flavor I don't like). I don't do well with an only-carb breakfast like pancakes or waffles. I can have a pancake if I also have eggs or another protein but only carbs will make me queasy.
