3-story split level house - about 1200sf. It is myself and 6 kitties. At first, I had 5 kitties. Then I adopted a senior cat who needed a good home and had 6 kitties until he passed on a few years back. Then I had 5 kitties again. I have now rescued a new kitten and it is myself and 6 kitties. I've always had boy cats except for my one female. She loves being the only female with her adoring brothers.

Almost 1700 sq. ft. 2-level Colonial, with an "oversized" (according to the real estate ad!) garage; no basement, we have a "you gotta kneel down and scoot around on your behind" "attic" (again, the real estate ad). The garage is not included in the stated square footage, nor is the attic, which adds about 800 more sq. ft. of storage space.

Two adults, my husband and I, and 10 cats, all indoor, live here.

The cats have the run of the house, except for the attic. We don't park in the garage, but we do use it for storage, a workshop of sorts, and mainly, the Kitty Litter Palace, as I call it. We installed a laundry sink that is only used for cleaning litter boxes, rinsing out paint brushes, the mop bucket, etc. No laundry EVER is put in it! If you saw what went down that drain, you would understand why! We installed a cat flap in the laundry room door, which leads into the garage. We keep only one box indoors, for Marge, and that gets totally emptied and washed out at least twice a day, especially now that's it's very, very cold at night. They don't want to go out at night!

The guest bedroom, which is a good size, is the kitty boudoir for half the herd. I've covered the nice quilt with cat blankets so they don't fur it up. They also like to sleep under the bed, so, in the winter, I place the bed over the floor heating vent. It's also the sunniest room, and has the most windows.

About 4 of the cats usually sleep with us, including our new kitten.

Last month, we decided to turn the small dining room into a cat playroom. We also have the kerosene heater there, and they LOVE that! We only have a china cabinet, a narrow sideboard and a small electric fireplace in the room; the floor is  open for them. We moved the dining room into the much larger study/family room, which looks better.

betsygee I love your cat room

As for us, it's me and my parents, 2 cats, and 1 dog in an about 1500 square foot townhouse. Cats go nearly everywhere!

Thanks!  It's worked out well for them.  I couldn't believe it when I found a kids' bunk bed with a slide.  Who knew such a thing existed?  I just found it by accident while web-surfing.  Just perfect for getting kitties up to window level to go outside to the catio.  And they love sleeping up on that bed instead of at floor level.

I love that room.  The space reminds me of the front area of our basement - has the same kind of shelf area built into the wall.  If, some day we decide to have it finished I would create something like yours for the kitties. Unfortunately, the basement right now is SO not-cat friendly but seeing yours gives me a vision of what it can be in the future. Thank you for sharing!

When he was a wee thing he had to wear collar with a bell or we wld lose him. He loves to follow me down the basement. Has toys everywhere, mostly in the living room.

Boyfriend and I live in a two bedroom 700 sqft house that we rent from his grandparents and we have two cats. I also have a 55gal fish tank I'm setting up. Very cozy here, but I do plan on getting a dog if we get engaged and move into a bigger house :)

Two bedroom, living and dining area with galley kitchenk - hallway to bedrooms and baths... about 1050 square feet. With two cats - Ragdoll Male and Rescue Orange Female. Almost enough room to get up to full speed - carpet helps and on the turns.

Am I the only one with a hole in the wall place? i'm in a small 2 bedroom apartment with 3 cats. Lots of vertical space/ cat trees for them. i have a random large walk in closet in the main area where I keep the litter boxes, and one in the hall. They all tend to hangout on the bed or cat tree in the bedroom or all 3 on top of me in the livingroom
