I was in the cat room cleaning up and i had no idea my beast of a dog was VERY QUIET waiting outside, shes usually loud when she approaches u ccan hear her a

THUMP THUMP THUMP WHINE at the door

BUt she was VERY SILENT!

I open the door and she stuck her massive head in there and had this innocent sweet look on her face staring at the kittens, but OMG one look at her face and they all did back flips, being strays I am guessing shes just a large coyote to them> ?

When they did this my dog "wanted" to offer them her ball but i didnt let her i sent her away asap, they are riled up but calming down now

I wont let it happen again unless i am suppose to find out ifthey are dog friendly or not

2 had trouble calming down one seemed to not be phased much

She did not get near them just put her ball and her big face at the door wagged her tail  and that was enough. She dropped her ball and quickly ran away.

Giving a cat a ball is just something she ikes to do with my old cat she will run up to herh and offer her a ball.  NON IDEA why she does this.

She will never do that to another dog because all balls are hers and other dogs cant touch them but i have seen her share food with the other cat before. THings should never allow other dogs to do.

Wonderful you do have a cat friendly DOG.  The introduction will surely go rather quickly when the time comes.

But as you say, being ex homeless, coyotes and straying dogs are their natural enemies, so good you are waiting with the intros till everything has settled down.

Good luck!

yeah my dog is very wolf like so the worst predator for cats wolf/coyote/feral dog type

My dog loves them but my dog does not like strange dogs or wild animals (coyotes) near hear turf

I think she sees the cats as sweet little play toys or something lol

SHould have seen the look on her face when she saw them it was like yay more cats

they were horrified

Aww, it sounds like your dog is wanting companionship.

If the cats, whivh they obviously have NOT....had early interactions with a dog, they fear for their lives at the sight of her big cute head :)

It takes quite a bit of time, gradual exposure and so on for the cats to eventually figure it out, she is no threat to them at all.

when do you think it is okay to let them out and explore?

My cat lives in the basement roof and has NO idea i have kittens only my dog knows

My cat wont ever come in contact with them,  my dog does not see them as intrudors just sees them as something to baby and love

ITs strange that shes like that with kittens and shes not like that with her own species its like she sees them helpless animals that need a mother I never understood it

she may think they are my own babyies and came from me? same species?

Some animals are more nurturing than others - sounds like your dog is one of them.  I would very carefully introduce them again, so the kittens have a place to hide if they get overwhelmed.  Maybe put the dog inside a big crate and let the kittens come to her?

Thank you for helping them!

I'm no help, but I want to tell you that I laughed at the visual of your dog trying to be friendly! Bless her heart!

Baby gates are great! We just moved to a house with 3 dogs. It's been almost two weeks of my cats and the dogs sniffing at each other under the door. Two days ago, we put a baby gate in the bedroom door and have been letting everyone look at each other. The dogs often lay right outside, just watching the cats do their cat thing. My youngest cat has started to creep up very slowly to the gate (not quite close enough to touch it) and give the dogs a good looking over. Tonight, I saw her stretched all the way out on her side, pulling herself along the carpet with her front paws towards towards the dogs, lol!

I am always there supervise when the door is open and the gate is up. When we leave the house or cannot supervise, the cats are closed into the room. A few times I have had to shut the door when the dogs have gotten too excited, but that is okay. I don't want the cats to get spooked and undo the progress they have made. The key is to let the cats take it at their own pace. Good luck with your progress! Sounds like it is going well so far :)

Here is a vido you can see the cats are not scared of my dog that much anymore but they do not meet the cats still keep away but they are not terrified of her like they were before

I think its better to keep them seperated because my dog is so big and strong and she REALLY LOVES the kittens my dog had arms and hands she would squeeze them

but clearly these 2 kittens will be okay in dog houses, as long as they have their claws and the dog is not dangerous

my dog does have strong prey drive even for her breed but she always adored my cat and was fiercly protective over her, she would do ANYTHING to save her cat, god help the foolish coyote that would try and take my dogs cat away.  She treats the cats like hr own offspring that never grew up like her eternal pups, I Think that is where the extreme fierce devotion/protection comes from her playing "mother" Because i have not met any dogs that were so attentive to the cats and watchful the same way a leopardess might do with her cubs.  My dog did not like anyone picking up the cat around her other than me.
