We just adopted a 10 week old kitten.  Our 11 year old Ruth has accepted her quicker than we thought she would, for which we are all thankful.  My problem is that Ruth is not allowed to have any fish products or any dry food.  We are doing our best to keep the Iams kitten food away from her, but we know that sooner or later our backs will be turned and Ruth will be in kitten's  food.  There is fish oil in the ingredients.  I went to Petsmart this morning looking for kitten food without fish or fish oil and came up empty. I realize that a kitten's nutritional requirements are different from an adult cat and the fish oil is important to her growth.  Does anyone know of a kitten food without fish or fish oil?

Thanks for the suggestion.  Ruth had ongoing chronic urinary tract issues  that were finally managed by removing all fish from her diet as well as removing dry food.  I actually hadn't even thought of wet kitten food, but will be sure to get a can or two for the baby to try.

OH! I'm sorry - I misunderstood. I thought you were looking for non-fish foods for the baby.

There are many adult wet foods without fish in them, but it is a matter of going down the isles, checking out different brands, and looking at the ingredients list. You'll probably have to go for the more "premium" brands, but they may contain fish oil or salmon oil for the omega-3 benefits.

ETA: Nevermind...you were asking about kitten food. Okay, I think I need a nap.

Fancy Feast Classics (such as chicken) are grain free and contain no chicken, as long as you stick with the non fish names(anything with the word tuna, fish etc.) FF classics ingredient lists contains no fish. Another option is Soulistic sold exclusively for Petco. Soulistic Good Karma, and Autumn Bounty Chicken Dinner in Pumpkin Soup contains no fish and their grain free.

I also know for a fact that Sheba Chicken along with the Sheba Turkey contain no fish and their also grain free, all 3 options I gave you are quite cheap, easy to come by and happen to be grain free! They also contain no fish as you requested. If you want an exact list of the FF classics with no fish I can give it too you, but off my head I know that the Chicken one doesn't along with the beef one.

Actually Fancy Feast - Classic Chicken has fish as the 5th ingredient.

FF- Tender Beef Feast, fish 4th ingredient.

Although, these 4 don't:

FF- Turkey & Giblets

FF- Classic Chopped grill feast

FF - Tender Beef & Liver

FF - Tender Beef & Chicken

There may be others as well, here's the link:

Lol, it's confusing - I'd just write the name and colour of the can down, then go hunting @ PetSmart.

Wellness core canned has no grain and no fish flavor. I believe it is suitable for both kittens and adults "as many foods are even if not expressly labeled" . So if your adult cat does not like it your baby can enjoy.

FF Tender Liver & Chicken Feast Classic (brownish-tan label) is another with no fish (first ingredient is indeed liver).

Wellness CORE Kitten canned has fish but the other 3 flavors I checked were fish free; salmon, whitefish & herring flavor seemed like a no-brainer. I need to decide what to try when I get to Petco. I'm sure I missed some flavors so its always a good idea to check but it looks like they are fish-free.  Dandy liked the other Wellness kitten food better anyway, but she can't eat it forever.

yes I was talking about the non kitten wellness core. I read the label on the "adult" and it is all life stages. My kitten won't eat it. She is too picky. But yours might.
