Max is dying today and I'm spending all the time I can w him. But when I rub his paw he pushes me. I don't want to exert him or do what he doesn't want.

Is he telling me to go way u think?

I'm not taking him to Vet as I don't want to move him and feel he may not amorphous it there. Anyone think I should try?

I hate this so much. He was a feral who became the sweetest lap cat and taught me how awesome cats really are.

Sorry I'm typing on phone and didn't check that....

He wags his tail too but I know that doesn't mean happiness. Do I need to leave?

I'm so sorry, and its very hard to tell you what to do. But if he is dying, you may ease his passage by putting him down.  Some vets might be willing to come to your home to do it, otherwise taking him in, carefully wrapped in a warm towel, maybe with a hot water bottle with warm, but not too hot water, will give him enough comfort to make the trip in to the vet.

His pushing with his paw may simply be his gentle way of saying, he isn't feeling well and doesn't want to be handled.  This is a good reason to help him through the end with your Vet's assistance.

Again I'm very sorry.

I'm so sorry about Max.
I know I read in your other thread that he has lymphoma and a mass was discovered in his abdomen. You know Max better than anyone. If you truly feel that he is dying at this moment, the last loving thing you can do is ease him of any pain and suffering. I know this is not easy to hear. My thoughts are with you.

Cat's have it hard coded to hide pain and suffering so predators don't get them so this is probably what it is. It is nothing to do with you but he is not feeling well and just wants to relax and not worry. If he is in pain or is suffering then the best thing you can do is accelerate this process and have him peacefully put down. Maybe try gently stroking different areas such as his head but if he will have nothing to do with it then he probably knows this is the end of the path and you really should put him down. Please think of what is best for Max and follow through with it.

I am very sorry for your loss but I am glad you were there with him so he didn't have to go alone.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It seems it all happened so quick and I can only imagine how devastated you are.

I appreciate the responses.  I know there are a lot of people who come here in pain and need of comfort.

Im the type of poster who always comes for answers and support.

But I do sympathize with everyone who has to go through this.   It almost sucks to love these animals so much.  I only had Max 3 years and thats what hurts the most that we were supposed to have so many more years together.

I am adopting a new cat this week.  I will NEVER replace MAX... but feel giving a home to one in need is the best I can do right now and to take my mind off of my loss.

Thank you again and my prayers go to those (and the animals) who are also suffering.  May we all see them again one day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I got 3 new kitties from the shelter 8 days after the loss of my dear Grey. It was never to replace her, that couldn't be done. But 3 cats got a forever home and I think she would like that. There will be days when you will still feel the pain of your loss and just don't want to hold the new kitty, and that's normal. What I did was set them down gently, scratch their head or give them a treat, then have a few minutes alone. Then I could go back out and give my new kitties a chance to make me smile.

I'm very sorry about Max.  I thought it would be a long time before I'd want another kitty after I lost my beloved girl, but three weeks later we had two new kittens in the house.  Even so, it was tough sometimes, thinking about Skittles and trying to be loving with the new kids.  Good advice from peaches08.

Best of luck with the new kitty.

I'm so sorry. I was praying for a good income. Just think how lucky Max was to have you in his life.

Take care x

Sorry for your loss. Each cat seems to have it's own personality so I guess you never really replace a lost loved one. Try to focus on the excitement of the new additions and be blessed in observing their unique gifts they bring to you and your household.
There will be those times when a smile or even a tear will be there to remind you of those friends who have left us.

God bless

I'm so glad you'll be giving a home to another kitty in need. I think it will help. :heart2: :rub:

Sorry for your loss. At least you were there when Max passed so he didn't pass being alone.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!   In the last few days Ive gotten past the constant depression, crying and swollen eyes.     I have his picture on my phone and laptop and can look at him without crying.

I got my new guy last night.  He came out from the dresser tonight and he is a love bug.

BUT... i realized we were getting to know each other right where Max died.   that was weird and very upsetting.  So in time...

i know he wont be like Max.. and that is the hard part but Im totally ok with that and glad i can give him a home.

Thank you for your kind words.
