First of all, they are adorable! :heart2:

And WHAT GREAT NEWS! This is SO wonderful to hear her numbers are up a little bit - and you're SEEING that she feels better!

Oh I hope it keeps up! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I think Rexy's fighting spirit (and mine) kicked in. The internal medicine vet (not my normal vet) said that how we saw Rexy on Monday was going to be her new normal. And then just 2 days later, Rexy is showing some positive changes!! Maybe it won't last, but maybe it will!!

Thank you all.

I am still so scared as I have no idea if I am doing the right things, and there is so easy solution that any vet can offer. I had a bit of a meltdown in the car. Don't want to cry in front of Rexy as she is very sensitive to my tears - she always has been that way, bless her heart.

I know. Hang in there. You're doing the best you can and you're a great mommy to Rexy (and the others!).

Thank you. That means a lot. Everything just feels a muddle since I have to juggle these problems that all converged at the same time.

Feel good moment to keep me going. I woke up to this sight. When Rexy is in her usual form, she likes to play with the pulls of my bedside lamp - I often wake up this way. When she is not feeling well, she does not do this (she has not done this in the past month). Today I woke up to her swinging the pulls and hearing them clanging and clinking away.

Awwww.....that's great!
She's so cute!  It's such a great feeling when you observe them doing their "happy" thing.

I was playing with my 9 lb 6 month old kitten to tire him out, so he stops wanting to pounce on the senior kitties. It was working well, but the cutest thing is the senior gang were getting all "upbeat" and happy. And Rexy started to prance around and even play a bit with some toys. So pleased for her. I wonder if it was the VitB12 shot last week or the metronizadole as they were the latest things added to her treatments. She started steroids a couple of weeks ago so not sure that they are responsible. At any rate, she is doing so well, it is hard to believe that very much is wrong. Her appetite also remains really good.

Rexy is made of tough stuff. She was an inbred kitty born in a terrible crack house that got shut down (and cats all handed over to a no-kill rescue shelter, where I was her caregiver and where I first fell in love with her). If she can just stay where she is now, she has a good quality of life.

Oh she is so precious!

It can be so hard to know whether or not we're doing the right things - but the proof is in the pudding, so to speak, and her demeanor sure sounds like you've got her feeling MUCH better! :rub:

I have a big, fat smile - as you must, every time you see her enjoying "normal" things. :D :heart2:

She's so very lucky to have you (and I know you feel the same way about her! ;) ). :hugs:

Continued :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: she feels better and better!

Tinkling lamp pulls to gently wake you to her presence. What a beautiful and very personal sign from Rexy that she is feeling better! The photo of Rexy and Gryffin that you posted is so very sweet. Wishing you all many more moments and days like this.

Update: Rexy is doing so well. She is eating well, in good spirits, just doing great. The new news today is that her CBC showed that she is that her anemia is gone!! To hit normal range for this lab, she need her red blood cell count to be 30 or greater. She was at 26 just after xmas (mild anemia), down to 19-20 a week after that (starting to affect her energy levels at this point), then it went back up to about 23 a week after that, and now about 3 weeks later her value is 31!! Woo hoo!! Go girl!!

This is such a great update! I'm so glad to hear Rexy is on the mend.
Amazing news, isn't it!!

I wonder if the metronidazole got rid of a deep-seated infection that was affecting red blood cells, if the B12 injections are doing something, or maybe prednisolone settled down some inflammation that was affecting her body functioning. She still has a myriad of internal problems on the ultrasound, but bloodwork-wise and clinically-wise she is pretty much as good as one could expect for a senior lady with some issues. Very grateful.

Who knows! Could be a combination of things that have helped her. Is she still on the metro, B12 and pred?

Metro finished. So she is on pred, vitB12 and 25ml of fluids 3x a week. On some probiotics now too since finishing the metro.

Gotcha...I was going to suggest that if you had planned to wean her off everything, to do it slowly and only one thing at a time.
