My foster kitten, Tulani, is going to have surgery on her mouth next week. She needs to be spayed too and I thought about asking the vet to spay her too while she's under anesthesia anyway. I'm not sure if it's the best thing to do, though. On the plus side, she would only have to go under and deal with the stress of going to the vet once. But, on the other hand, she would have surgery on two areas which would mean post-op pain in two places and probably a tougher recovery. I don't want her to be miserable after the surgery but then again I don't want her to have to have surgery (spay) again in a couple of weeks. What should I do?

Ask your vet and see what she/he says.  As you say there are pluses and minuses both ways.  BTW here in the UK spays are usually done through the cat's flank and recover is very very quick.

Im inclined to say yes, get it all over with at once, but I think it would depend on how involved the mouth surgery is, how long it will take (being under longer is riskier), what the mouth recovery will be like, etc. I would ask the vet about the pros and cons.

Unless her mouth surgery is major and will take a long time, as well as a long-ish recovery time, I would def. say go for it!

One time of being put under is much better than twice, and kitten spays are not a big deal.

I say it depends on what the vet is comfortable doing.  Some vets don't like to do 2 major operations on the same day.  However I think it should be okay to do both procedures at once that way she won't have to recover twice, and won't have to go under anesthesia twice.
