Hey,

I just got back from my 2 weeks holiday vacation and my girlfriend and I noticed our cat looks seriously different....she seems skinnier and her attitude has changed greatly.

My GF came down to visit me last week, so she had some time to see our cat Beauty at my apartment and we let her mother check in on her and make sure she had plenty of food and water....but our cat just seemed different and felt skinnier and weaker....do I have to take her to a vet or is there a way to help her get re-adjusted again?

What does she usually do around the house? Other than seeking skinnier (which could just be from missing you guys) does she act differently? How is sh keeping up with grooming herself? Depressed cats will hide and stop grooming themselves sometimes.

Hope everything goes back to normal!

Some cats get upset when left alone and they can express this in various ways, including the ways your cat is showing now.  Having someone come in and feed isn't always enough, they miss you and they miss the company.  A vet visit may be in order, but most importantly right now shower her with attention and love and lots of food and if she doesn't bounce back very soon, then a vet visit is definitely in order.

Ideally, on your next extended trip you can either get someone to take her in for you, like she could stay with your mom, or someone could stay at your place.

Cat's grow attached to their humans and do get depressed when they are left alone so this is probably all it is. Give it a bit of time and try not to add any additional stress to the cat and see if she comes back around.
