I have an 8 month old feral and I recently noticed when he's sleeping sometimes he stretches out an arm or leg and it spasms or twitches a lot, really quick small movements. It wakes him up and he licks it or I hold it and it stops. I'm just wondering what this might be.

I've never noticed it with a cat I've had before it doesn't seem like regular sleep twitches or like he's dreaming because normally two paws will move at once like he's running in a dream or something and it's only when a leg or arm is extended out.

Hi hallelujahh. I have not heard of this before, but I didn't want this post to go unacknowledged. Does everything seem well and good when he's awake and moving? Maybe something to ask the vet next time he's there for a visit.

Yeah he seems fine when he's awake. Just twitches a lot while sleeping. His tongue sometimes even twitches out of his mouth but it's just the limbs that worry me.

My cat Peanut gets twitches sort of like that on his back sometimes. His back just has these little spasms. I always thought he was dreaming or itchy. Never thought to be concerned. He's always had that and he's 13 now so I'm sure Peanut's isn't anything.

Does your vet charge for phone calls? If you can get free advice over the phone it might be worth a call.
