Hi! I found your site when trying to figure out how much food to feed my daughter's cat. She's a little chunky. My cat is fine but the kibble her foster mom had her on was full of corn and soy and that didn't seem right to me (since cats are carnivores) so I've been researching cat food like mad.

We both went for harder-to-adopt cats. Mine is named Tabitha and had been with her foster mom for months because she hates the Adoption Showcase and would growl and scratch the people who tried to get to know her. Honestly, I wasn't overly thrilled with the showcase myself. It was much crazier than I expected. So I was willing to hold her for a bit when she squirmed as long as I had no sense she hated me or anything. (She didn't. She liked the petting, just not being held.) She settled down and we bonded over our hatred for Adoption Showcase. :)

My daughter was still saying she didn't want a cat of her own and my cat should be the family cat but she was seduced by the cats at the showcase. She decided she would come back with me when I picked up Tabitha and get a black one (they are so pretty) and name it Salem after the cat in that dumb tv show with Melissa Joan Hart. The first cat she picked was a boy but he got very grumpy when we went back to the bonding room and was even hissing at his foster mom. She kept saying "I don't understand what's wrong with him. He never acts like this." (Mini-Mac swears she wasn't wearing perfume, but I wonder…)

So they found another black cat and plopped it Mini-Mac's lap and it immediately started loving on her. Her name was Kelly but it's Salem now. She's pretty easy-going and was fine being handed around between us. She did have a cold which worried us but her foster mom gave us some medicine for it that seemed to work, at least at first.

Tabitha remembered me and also I brought bribes (toys and treats) so we were doing fine. Her foster mom was impressed that she took a treat from me but I think she's a little faker because she tolerated the rest of the family okay and actually liked the vet. Maybe she was just ready to be adopted.

My husband has been fine with the cats. They don't bother his allergies at all. Tabitha even sleeps with us (which was supposed to be against the rules - ha) and he doesn't have any trouble breathing though he thinks that's because his CPAP machine is filtering out her hair/dander.

Here they are together. They like to hang out on my bed during the day:

They are both about 6-7 months old. And, yes, Tabitha's ears are really that big. Tabitha was born under a dumpster in the condo complex where her foster mom lives along with 5 sibs who all got adopted pretty fast. I'm not sure what Salem's story is. Her face is a bit flat and her eyes are interesting too so I think she has some kind of Siamese or Burmese kitty in her. The next time I'm at the mall, I will see if the rescue group is there and see if I can find out more of how she came to be up for adoption. They haven't been around the last couple of times I've been shopping.

You're welcome. There was one other kitty at the showcase that I can't stop thinking about but my husband and daughter think 2 cats is enough.

We thought two new kitties were enough, too, but then there was one more who needed a home and....well....then there were three.  LOL

Here's a link to a new post about how much to feed written by one of our members.  Maybe you will find it helpful:
