I just found this cat site last night, and I am posting because I want to give my cat a second chance at life.

My cat Piccolo is now disabled. He cannot use the bottom half of his body or pee on his own. My family is low-income, thus we cannot provide him with the proper care he needs.

I'm looking for someone, preferably in the Dallas area, that would like to adopt my special-needs cat. I don't want to euthanize him, so I thought I could try to find someone that would love to take care of him. Please contact me ASAP by replying to this thread or by sending me a message on GoFundMe or Facebook.

You can read his full story at gofundme.com/piccolo.

Welcome to TCS. Sorry you found us in such difficult circumstances. You say you're looking for someone to adopt your cat, but it isn't clear if you are also still trying to raise money to pay vet bills.

Please note, this message from the mods is posted on every thread that is asking for donations and is not aimed at anyone in particular.
From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

Thank you, GoldyCat. Right now, the funds we have collected will cover general veterinary costs, but cannot cover a visit to a specialist. Piccolo will require lots of attention.

For verification purposes, Piccolo is staying at the Love Freeway Animal Hospital.

Love Freeway Animal Hospital is operated by Dr. Diane Wagner and Dr. William Guthrie. It is located at 3435 Marvin D. Love Freeway Dallas, TX 75224. The hospital can be reached by dialing (214) 376-5431.

I have also posted pictures of receipts on his GoFundMe page with updates on his health.

Unfortunately, this is an international forum and most people here are not looking for another cat.

It is extremely unlikely in general that you are going to find anyone who wants to adopt an adult disabled cat.  I very much understand the challenges of being a low income family with a special needs cat but your cat's best chance is probably if you can figure out some way to keep him.  What are the ongoing medical costs likely to be? Is there any way at all that they can be mitigated? For instance, why does he need a specialist? wouldn't you be able to learn how to express his bladder yourself?

I am not meaning to put pressure on you or make you feel worse about the situation, but I think it's important to be honest that his chances of finding a new home are almost nonexistent.  There are so many healthy cats without homes and almost no one would be willing to instead assume responsibility for a cat with major medical problems who they do not know or love like you do.

Good luck with this situation.  I know it must be truly heartbreaking for you.

I'm so sorry for your cats problems.  The only place I can think of which *might* accept Piccolo is Tabby's Place in Ringoes, New Jersey.  Or they might know of somewhere else you can contact for help.  Tabby's Place is primarily for cats which are in hopeless situations and with special needs.  If you click on the "Help" button at the top of the page you can fill out a form which asks for pertinent info about your cat to see if they can match it up to someone willing to adopt.

May or may not help but I thought I would throw it out to you.

I do not have any advice on having Piccolo adopted, but I just wanted to say that I read his story and updates on the GoFundMe page, and it had me in tears. How could anybody do this? Stuff like this really confirms why I like animals better than people. I'm so sorry that you and Piccolo are going through this. I hope he isn't in any pain. My thoughts are with you.
