If there is a way to limit his motion to prevent him from aggravating the injury I would do so.  However, I really would advise you to see a vet.  Cats are unfortunately very good at hiding pain, and his not appearing to be in pain unfortunately does not mean he isn't :(

Welcome to the forums.

Large cats can also hurt themselves by jumping off of things so it may heal up by itself without any outside help. I had a buddy who's weight challenged cat broke a leg by jumping off of a table so it doesn't take much if the animal really needs to lose weight. The cat's age is also getting up there so it may be joint pain or something similar to that as well. Keep an eye on the cat and if it doesn't seem to be getting better take him to the vet. Now would also be a really good time to assess his weight and get him on a diet or his health may be a real issue in the future.

Thank you. Yes hes on a diet now. He was on a food called urinary SO due to crystals in his blatter. That wasnt very weight friendly. He was at 24lbs since being diagnosed with diabetes he is now down to 18.5lbs. Yay! Im keeping a close eye on him and if hes not showing improvement im going to take him in. Thank you for your info!! :-)
