Hi everyone and Happy New Year to all. Monday we went to pick up our new 8 mo. old Persian named River. He is my first cat and he is awesome. He loves people and dogs. I also have dogs, Shih Tzu and a Lhasa. Well we started slowly the introduction period, VERY SLOWLY. We put the cat in a wire crate and I had one dog on a leash and took in into the cat's safe room. They were curious and excited and barked and cried because they had no idea. LOL River sat there with the expression on his face as if to say, "I'm so bored with these dogs." It was priceless. Each day we did this and then today we took the wire crate and the cat in the living area of the house and let the dogs in, the cat just sat there again bored.....my Shih Tzu were awesome but my Lhasa cried, wagged, barked. Okay, it's fairly brand new and it takes time.
I'm thinking in the next phase of the introductory period when we get to that, of doing the baby gate so they can see each other but no contact yet. His jumping abilities are not that great, since he is a Persian he does not "fly" all around. He can jump on the bed and his 30" cat tree bed to look out the window. Any suggestions for baby gates he cannot JUMP OVER? I don't want anyone to feel threatened in any way so all advice is helpful.
Thank you
Patrice
