I was going to use this (i bought both) but when I researched the 2 ingredients NOT in pepcid.

The Propylene Glycol in equate t is the same as Ethylene glycol which is very toxic to cats - only less so.

Im certainly not giving the equate to my cat... but do people know this?   Or is it really not that dangerous?    I did a search and couldnt find using equate instead of pepcid for cats anyway.

Thanks

Propylene Glycol and Ethylene Glycol are different however Propylene Glycol was banned by the FDA in cat foods as it can cause Heinz Body Anemia, however it is still allowed in dog foods.  It is a mild to moderate toxin:  http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poison/propylene-glycol/  It generally does not cause the same kidney failure effects as Ethylene Glycol but can cause similar effects as alcohol toxicity. http://www.hopeaf.com/readarticle.php?aid=226  But i should definitely be avoided at any rate.  Propylene Glycol is used in 'safer' antifreezes.

Propylene glycol is not ethylene glycol. However there is an association between PG and Heinz body anemia in cats, so I would avoid products with PG in them.
