Fascinated by how you make your own soy and almond milk!  Impressive.

Vacuumed the apartment

Cleaned the bathroom and laundered the bathmats and shower curtains

Moved some bits of furniture about so I now have a tidier hall and a radio in my sitting room.

@winchester.
I haven't been shopping lately to see if we gave corn syrup but we do have fig syrup. My daughter uses it a lot in cooking salads and it can go into cakes I think.
@tammat
You have to pay a fee to the council to keep cats?! - mouth agape. I'm stunned.
I had 3 cats with no council problems and 2 cats and a big dog.
Well you decided me. I'm not coming to Australia.

It's amazingly easy! It just requires some forethought to get everything soaked and ready 10-12 hours beforehand. Beans + water + blender. Sift it, boil it, sweeten it (if desired), and store it for a week.

Sounds amazing, I presume almonds are raw, are the soy beans cooked in any way?  Dried beans not fresh?  Proportion of water to weight of almonds?  I'd love to give this a try!

Yep, the beans are dried yellow soy beans. I think the measurements I used were 1 cup of raw materials (pre-soaking) to something like 6 cups of water? It depends how strong you want it. I know quite a few recipes recommend more like 4 cups. You can taste and add as you go if you need to. If you have cheesecloth, it's easier to strain the residual sediment from blending, but since I use the results for cereal and oatmeal, I really don't mind the sediment because I don't notice it, and I don't need it to be super strong either. You can keep the sediment for baking and other recipes! I've used honey, brown sugar, white sugar, stevia, and yellow rock sugar as sweeteners with pretty good results. I think I prefer brown sugar.

One thing I would say though is don't go in with storebought-flavour expectations. If you've had an Asian brand of soy milk, that taste might be closer, but still not quite homemade taste (my aunt has a milk maker though, and that's similar to Asian soy milks).

@pinkdagger  thank you for all this information.
   It sounds amazing and I can't wait to try it out.   I have piles of almonds just now that probably need using up so they can be my first experiment.  Really looking forward to seeing how it tastes and what the texture is like.  I'm thinking the almond sediment might be pretty good in porridge or oatmeal cerial.

Tomorrow (today after my sleep given it is now past midnight)  my tasks should be

Work

Try making almond milk

Clean up mess from attempt at making almond milk.

Of course! Let me know how it goes!

Today I need to draw, work on my website, and hopefully (*hopefully* - fingers crossed) get my blog up and running for sketches.

Didn't manage the almond milk today - too long at work.
   Plan for Sunday, or Monday which is my next day off.

Walk to work and back.

Remembered to post a card to a friend - only a week over due sending.

Educated one of my new tenants in Mouse's communication signs for 'want to play hide and seek / hunt the human'.

   What a joy watching an adult man you hardly know sticking his head round the edge of an open door then hiding repeatedly then running off down a corridor with a little cat running after him with cat tail bolt upright.
   Mouse really  seems to like this couple, and no wonder when they are both happy to act daft and obey his commands after only 2 weeks.

I'm waiting for socks to wash so I can go to bed early. Hurry up washing machine!!

Haha, I actually had a family friend post this to Facebook the other day

"Extending tax deadline really screws up accounting firms as some clients take advantage of this and leave their taxes until the last minute. It is human nature to use the extra time if you give it to them. For those of you who haven't completed your taxes, please don't leave it until May 5. Have some consideration for your accountant!!!!! Husband - I hope you are increasing your fees after today to cover the extra staff cost and missed vacations!"

My aunt is a corporate accountant so fortunately she doesn't have as much crap to deal with, with the extension! I didn't even realize there was an extension until I saw that post, but my family always sends our taxes in as soon as we have all the forms available to fill everything out. Since I don't have much to claim, my forms are the bare minimum. Mine, fortunately, take such a short time to do but I may be doing them online for my family in the future anyway.
