Great pictures, Tammat!

I've had a busy few days. I'm hoping for less busy today.

- try to walk. The wind seems brutal though. There's also a little snow out there.
- I could look for shoes and a bag to go with the outfit I bought for me niece's wedding.
- I could clean my house.

Tammat, I bet you'll be glad to get home. Vacations are so much fun, but it's always nice to get home again. And baby cats!!

Karen, it's cold and windy here, too. Just nasty. The only good thing is that the sun is shining.

Two things tonight
  • I've been saying every day now that I want to go to Target and have yet to get there. Hopefully tonight. I need a wedding anniversary card for Rick's parents and a birthday card for my GF. Her birthday is next Tuesday, but she's leaving for Germany on Sunday. The card needs to go out tomorrow morning and, since I forget about no mail on Good Friday, she may not get it now til she's back home. But she'll get it eventually. And I need to get a gift card for the woman who does my hair as she just had a baby; I have a hair appt on Friday, so I can give it to her then. (I'm always so late with stuff like this. Rick's been working OT, so til he gets home from work, we have dinner, and clean the kitchen, I'm pretty much ready to kick back. Going back out is the last thing I want to do on a week night.)
  • Tonight is trash night, so we need to clean out the litter boxes and get the trash down to the road for pick-up

- I could clean my house.
:lol3: Same here.... COULD. I did manage to get the vacuuming done today. So, tomorrow HAS to be cleaning day. Larry has Friday off and I know I don't want to be cleaning that day. We want to do some fun things. WHAT fun things, you ask????? Have no clue, yet. :lol2:

So - vacuumed the house.
Grocery store for items to make dinner tonight.
Hoping to get our walk in after dinner IF Larry gets home soon. :cross:

I love that some people still send out cards.:bigthumb:  So do I and I never forget a bday, anniversary or other in my families. Most everyone in my family - both sides - send e-cards now OR just emails OR even texts. ARGH. Takes no extra special effort. Someday, soon, everything will be done from a computer - and I think it is so impersonal that way. :nothappy:

Had the wrong time written down for my shift at work and got there 2 1/2 hours early - neadless to say I didn't stay there!

Went in to charity shop UI volunteer in just up the road from work to see if they needed a hand and they jumped at the offer because they didn't have anyone to work on the till - stayed there for 2 hours.

Went to work at the right time and worked through the afternoon finishing late because it got busy late on in the day....  walked home feeling suitably tired.

Need to get better at writing the right times in my diary!  (I wrote down next Wednesday's shift time down for this week as well by mistake..... grrrr)

I love cards. Getting them and giving them. Yeah, I could just email her, but it's not the same. And I won't be able to call her on her birthday bc she'll be in Germany with her mom. I don't forget special days, but I do have a tendency to forget getting the cards in time to be mailed out. Her birthday is Tuesday and I just mailed the card out this morning; I don't think she'll get it before she leaves for Germany on Sunday. But it will be there when she gets home....along with another card to welcome her home.

So today.....
  • Walking over to our candy shop at lunch to get dear Richard's chocolate covered pretzels for Easter. He said the Easter Kitty told him he was good to go for pretzels. When I asked him what the Easter Kitty said about my chocolate bunny, he said the verdict was still out. (He's such a snot.
) This morning, on my way into work, I checked the distance from the candy shop in town to my office and it's only one mile each way, so I should be able to walk that during lunch with no trouble......the hassle is going to be trying to get across the highway in decent time.
  • Rick's Tundra has been recalled, something about rust....I'm not sure exactly what's going on. We are taking the truck down to the garage tonight and they'll check it out tomorrow. Rick and I both are off work tomorrow for Good Friday, so we don't need the truck.
  • He is bowling early tonight, so while he's gone, I need to look at some cookbooks. Still trying to figure out what I want for dessert for Easter dinner. Still need something beside the coconut cake or Rick won't be eating dessert. So far, I have found an idea for strawberry parfaits that I can make ahead or I'm kind of leaning toward strawberry cream puffs. It's been a while since we had cream puffs and I know that everybody loves them. Strawberries are such a spring kind of thing and I've seen them in our store. We also have some frozen strawberries that I could thaw to make a neat sauce for the cream puffs. With a bit of chocolate glaze, a poof of whipped cream and one perfect strawberry to top it all off, cream puffs just might work.

That sounds a bit dangerous but worth the risk for those chocolate covered pretzels !!! Be careful !! :hugs:

1. CLEAN today. Bathrooms, dust, wash tile floors, Bona the hardwood. I think that will be good enough for today.
2. Dump/scrub litter boxes - need to get to Petsmart first to pick up some more litter - argh - so behind on errands lately.
3. Larry is off tomorrow and so am I. No dogs need walking because most have the day off !!! I think we are going out for Mexican. Thursday night is $3.00 margarita night! :bigthumb: I think we may share the Fajita's - YUM.

I was vacuuming. I will continue vacumming but Cleo wanted to play. I stopped to empty the vac and this is what happened!!! (See pic) I thought that was clever Cat communication!!

I need to do some more washing

We are invited to dinner so I'm making some old fashioned desserts. Chocolate self saucing pudding and golden syrup dumplings. Oldies but Goodies.

  • Running errands this morning. Rick is taking me to the candy shop to pick out a chocolate bunny. (Evidently, I passed the Easter Kitty's inspection.

) I was at the store yesterday and looked at the bunnies, but didn't buy any. I knew that Rick would want to buy it. But I did get his chocolate covered pretzels. He likes dark chocolate, but I got a pound of each, dark and milk. I have the dark for Rick and I shared the milk chocolate pretzels at work yesterday. We have banking to do, a jaunt to the natural food store for cashews (for Rick), as well as the grocery store (need cream, asparagus, leeks, and fresh strawberries), and to Lowes. And dear Richard offered to take me our for breakfast this morning, too.
  • Making red beet eggs. We must have red beet eggs for Easter; it's a law around here or something. I'll make one dozen eggs today. They have to be made a couple days ahead of Easter, so they have time to pickle properly. According to my mother. I always make them on Good Friday.
  • A bit of house-cleaning, but nothing too major: litter boxing, vacuuming, dusting the living room, Bona the kitchen floor, clean the bathroom
Tammat, Cleo knows how to get your attention! My cats are very leery of the Purple Monster (vacuum cleaner). When the Purple Monster comes out of the closet, all of the cats scatter to parts unknown. Except for BooBoo who can't hear it anymore. He sits on the top level of the cat tree and watches every move the vacuum makes.

I finally cleaned the downstairs yesterday too! :lol3: Margaritas sound good!

Helping out in my MIL shop

Have to buy 4 small eggs

I need to type up an Egg hunt for my kids in secret. I'm going to give them clues so I can hide eggs where the cats won't get at them. They know all of the usual hidey places now.

  • We need to get the recycling down to the center this morning. I'm sure the basement will say "Ahhhhhh!" when all the recycling is gone as we've got very lax about it the last month or so.  Two bins of cardboard and fiberboard, let alone all the other stuff.
  • Should do a load or two of laundry while I'm puttering about in the house tonight. (Notice I said "should" not "must. Hopefully it will get done though)
  • I must make the cream puffs tonight. I won't put the strawberries and cream in the puffs until right before dessert tomorrow, but I need to get them made, cooled down, and stored for tomorrow. I can make my strawberry sauce tonight, too, while the puffs are baking. And while I"m at it, I think I'll make the apple butter glaze tonight for the ham tomorrow. (One less thing to worry about tomorrow.) I forgot to get the ham out of the freezer yesterday!
I'd think about it, then something would happen and my mind would go blank. Got up and put the ham in the fridge first thing this morning.

Oh, Pam, I hope the ham thaws. I am trying to decide if to keep my hair appointment later today. It is pouring rain and will be all day. Not a good day for a hairdo. Besided that, I am going to the Dollar Store to get the grandchildren some candy for Easter. Then I need to go to the grocery store and buy some beans.
