On page 608 of The Fiery Cross....must finish it tonight, so it's going to be a late night.
My SIL, Susan, is REALLY into the Outlander series and is currently reading The Fiery Cross too !!! She tells me it is a must read. I love to read but don't seem to find the time to fit in all the reading I would like to do.

------------------------------------

DUST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my house.
Three mid-day dog walks.
Get to health club and run on treadmill and then 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Adding a fourth. :lol3:
The weather (60's) had been SOOOOO wonderful the past two days (I know - shocking about nice weather) and Larry and I have been walking the dogs in the evening. I think tonight will be the last walk for awhile. :( Colder temps and rain for the foreseeable future.

Been to the pool twice today for kids swimming lessons.

Lots of washing to fold and pack away. Probably another load to wash.

I've utterly fallen in love with Outlander. Completely. I can't think of a series I've enjoyed reading (and re-reading) so much.

We are to get rain over the next few days as well. BUT....it's not snow!
  • Bake chocolate chip cookies tonight
  • Scour out the litter boxes
  • Three loads of laundry (One is the bed comforter.....somebody threw up all over the comforter this morning. I soaked it and will wash it tonight)

Oh, home baked chocolate chip cookies...
.. I can almost taste them.

@Winchester....Do you have that recipe, and also for beginners,...somewhere here on TCS?

Can you post a link?  I found over 10 threads on chocolate chip cookies, but not sure if any are yours?

There is a good one for "Soft chocolate chip cookie recipe", but since I don't bake, will take a while to get the chips, the brown sugar, and actually do it.

Walked to work and back.

Scooped poop.

Knocked on neighbour's door several times to try and collect the huge and extremely heavy package that was delivered to them earlier today; containing Mouse's 10 k supply of TD biscuits and 30 k supply of cat litter.... Hope I get the neighbours in soon as the biscuits I have in the apartment will only last another day at most.

Rainy days = great reading days. You, along with my SIL, are tempting me to begin reading that series.......

Sure.....here you go. The recipe is also posted here:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/238197/cookies

From the King Arthur Cookie Companion Cookbook....

King Arthur’s Essential Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

3/4 cup unsalted butter (get it out and let it soften overnight)

2/3 cup dark brown sugar

2/3 cup granulated sugar

2 Tbsp. light corn syrup

1 Tbsp. cider OR white vinegar

2 large eggs

1 Tbsp. vanilla

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

2-1/4 cups flour

3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.  Lightly grease sheet or line with parchment paper. In medium mixing bowl, cream butter, sugars, corn syrup, and vinegar, then beat in eggs. Beat in vanilla, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir in flour and chocolate chips.

Drop the dough by tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake cookies for 10 minutes, until almost set; the centers may still look a bit underdone. Remove them from the oven and transfer to rack to cool.

Note:  These cookies spread, but do not go flat. You can chill the dough if you prefer, before baking......1 or 2 hours will work. I also use parchment paper instead of greasing my cookie sheets. Do NOT overbake! They freeze very well; just put them in a freezer container, layered between sheets of parchment paper or waxed paper. You can also just throw them in a freezer bag. (And did I ever mention just how decadent a frozen chocolate chip cookie really is???)

I cannot recommend Outlander enough. There have been times during reading these books that I've actually gotten teary-eyed....and that doesn't happen often with me. The love between Jamie and Claire warms my heart.

I did manage to get The Fiery Cross finished this morning. I went into work a couple hours early, just to have some "me" time while it was quiet. I've started on A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

Rick bowls early tonight, so while he's gone.....
  • Do some laundry for him to pack tonight
  • Scoop the boxes
And I think that will be pretty much all I intend to do

I'm almost finished with Snow and Ashes.....have Echo in the Bone on hold at my ebook library. I think I'm 5 out of 5. I'll be able to take a bit of a break between finishing this and starting the last book. And then I shall be ready for the new one come June, aye?

Rick will be leaving this morning and will be back sometime Sunday evening. I shall be doing some spring cleaning, starting tomorrow morning. So tonight:
  • Just a wee bit of laundry, mainly some for the cats (their pillow covers and blankies and such)
  • Some general straightening-up, more to prepare for cleaning tomorrow than anything....much easier to start cleaning when things are in their places
  • Litter box scooping
I'm hoping to be in bed rather early tonight.

Hi, @Winchester.    Thanks for that amazing link.  It has loads of cookies, bars, snacks.  I never really visited the social groups before because I thought it was just people talking like they do at "watercoolers"...lol

Did not know there are so many groups, and a lot of useful information there, too.

So not only will I be learning about cats on TCS, but also snacking on some fine baked products.....that is if I do not "overbake"...lol   Will be getting ingredients together, so can attempt it on saturday night. thanks again and cheers.

I've been MIA from the lounge for a few days. :nono: The day before yesterday I spent the day out with my mother to celebrate her upcoming birthday and help her look for shoes for my nieces wedding. Yesterday was lunch and shopping with a friend. Today has been baking for my niece's bachelorette party tomorrow. So far today:

-walked
- baked chocolate chip cream cheese brownies, peanut butter chocolate bars ( early indications are that these will be decadent) and Oreo cheesecake bars (jury is still out. These may be a miss. I'm waiting for them to cool)
- visit from another niece to pick things up for tomorrow's party and go over a few things.

I am ALSO on my own this weekend. Larry flew today to Sedona to help his dad pack up the house. He will be home Monday. Planning on doing some Spring cleaning too; lunch with a friend tomorrow; AND getting to the Library to check out the Outlander series. I hope they have them! I would also like to go to a movie on Sunday afternoon. I don't mind seeing a movie on my own because I can pick whichever one I want to see !!!!

Welcome back!! Lots of fun things going on in your life! :) And, you mean, you can wait till they cool to taste them!!! :shocker: I am so bad when baking cookies. Taste them from start to finish. Especially if I add in chocolate chips - I snack on those too. Those brownies sound heavenly.

And when is this dinner? Where did you say? I'm on my way! Those bars sound decadent!

I'm cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning.

Kitchen is finished: vacuumed, dusted, lemon oiled, floor is washed, counters are clean, fridge is clean, French door windows are washed inside and out. Did some straightening-up in some of the cupboards, too.

Living room is finished and finished back the hallway: vacuumed, dusted, lemon oiled, inside of windows are washed. Went through the walls and corners with a dust mop (no spiders or webs!) I washed the foyer floor and also the railing at the stairs.

Computer room is finished: vacuumed, dusted, lemon oiled, insides and outsides of windows are washed. Went through the walls and corners with my dust mop.

Bedroom is almost finished....still have to get the lemon oil on the bureaus and the closet doors, use the dust mop, and wash the windows. I turned the mattress over and took the sheets off the bed for washing.

Still have to do the bathroom and I may wait to do that til tomorrow.

I'm working on my fourth load of laundry (that's why I may wait to do the bathroom tomorrow as I want to wash the shower and window curtains tomorrow...done enough laundry today, I think). Scooped all the litter boxes.

BooBoo had me awake this morning at 4:00 for breakfast, so I'm pooped.

I know that's more than 3 things. I've been busy.
