This is from my Cuisinart ice cream book that came with our ice cream freezer. The Cuisinart book also says to make sure you put the freezer bowl in the freezer at least 24 hours ahead of when you plan to make your ice cream. Notice this recipe states whole milk; do not substitute 1% or 2% milk or skim milk....whole milk will help with the freezing. Glad you made some good ice cream!

I'll copy this into the Recipe Exchange, too.

Strawberry Ice Cream

8 ounces very red, ripe strawberries (fresh summer berries or frozen berries, thawed)

2/3 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

2/3 cup whole milk (do NOT substitute skim milk)

1-1/3 cups heavy cream

Place strawberries, sugar, vanilla and whole milk in a blender jar or food processor fitted with the metal "s" blade and blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 40-50 seconds. Pout into a bowl and stir in heavy cream. If not making ice cream immediately, cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

Turn on ice cream maker and pour in the ingredients. Allow to mix and freeze until of desired consistency. Begin checking for consistency after 12-15 minutes of freezing. If ice cream is not thick enough, pour back into the freezer and continue freezing until desired consistency is reached. Check every few minutes.

Makes ten 1/2-cup servings (although I don't know anybody who will eat just 1/2 cup!)

______________________________________________________________

OK, my 3 things for today:

Just took my cake out of the oven to cool (didn't get it done last night)

Must take the recyclables down to the recycling center

A quick vacuum about the house

Mmm, sounds yummy! I love making ice cream - could I borrow this recipe?

Vacuumed the house while Alaina hid under the bed.

Went grocery shopping and bought some ice cream and cookies (and baby carrots, but that's too healthy, isn't it?
)

Organized the library. There were house guests over two nights ago and they forgot to put a whole stack of books back, so I became the librarian for an hour.

Thanks for posting the recipe. I can't wait to try it.

Today I worked very hard in my garden. It was exhausting but it's all tidy now.
I also did washing and changed the sheets.
Scrubbed the bath/ shower.

Go for a few groceries

Put the catnapper back up to the bedroom window (I had taken it down yesterday as somebody puked on the cover and it needed to be washed.)

It's an exercise night

If things go well, bake snickerdoodles. I made the snickerdoodle batter on Sunday, but didn't get them baked. Dear Richard is leaving for Oregon this coming Saturday and he cannot go without his snickerdoodles.

I seem to remember snickerdoodles.  I seem to remember you making them... I believe there was a whole snickerdoodle thread!  And I still don't know what a snickerdoodle is..

Did a really thorough vacuum

Planted a rasberry

Cleaned out the cat enclosure

I'm pretty pleased with myself!

I remember those snickerdoodles, I even had to get someone PM me a recipe!!!

Erm, Mani, did you plant 'a raspberry' to try and grow from the seeds as a real adventure, or a raspberry plant?     I used to share an allotment with friends and we'd get loads of raspberries in summer.

Lay in bed until 12-30 pm sniffling and coughing and feeling sorry for myself having a cold on my day off work.  Cozy.

Put a load of washing in  the machine (yet to take it out and hang it up to dry though).

Posted away on TCS while thinking what to wear to go out and meet a friend for coffee at one of the local cafes.

@MServant  Continued healthy vibes for that cold.

Bought another box of ginger thins (I'm having a ginger-obsession period right now.
)

Exercised on the treadmills at the community center

Brushed Alaina while she went in her motor purr mode.

Must hit Lowes for water softener salt

One load of laundry (although til I get home the pile might have grown....I never know anymore)

A quick vacuum in the living room and kitchen

Thanks guys.  The cold's still going strong but I think I'm getting the better of it.

Today there are lots of things I should be doing however:

Sat on sofa watching morning TV and posting on TCS

Made the most of Mouse climbing on to me to try and stop me posting on TCS.

Planning a little nap on the sofa (hopefully with Mouse coming over and joining me under the fleece) followed by a little snack of some sort.

I should be making my bed at this moment but my babies are asleep on it and I didn't want to disturb them. They are so tired from harassing the humans in the night!!!!

*I exercised first thing
*Next I'm going to a local plant nursery because they were getting lots of new stock in yesterday and all this week. I'm looking for Russell Lupins. I think?
*This afternoon I'm either baking or hopefully planting new plants. It's cool here today so perfect to plant.

Sounds like Mouse would make a good Nurse MServant ;)

Early morning cuddles with Alaina (unfortunately short-lived - she was more interested in what was for breakfast!)

Watched my house guest bake petit gateau.

Planning on some couch time with Alaina and watching TV/posting on TCS.

NOT.  He's usually rubbish and gives me a wide body swerve if I'm in need of cuddles but today he's been a real hon'.

I hope you got some nice new plants at the nursery.

Tomorrow I need to:  go to work to do the opening shift at the shop, get some fresh groceries on the way home at 3pm, and phone check in with my mom to see how she's getting on with deciding on a house move.

Aww, Mouse!
Way to comfort your sick meowmy.

Tomorrow will be a busy day for me - visiting parents, sending my house guest to the airport, taking Alaina for her dental cleaning, my own orthodontist appointment.. oh my.

Change of plans. My hairdresser had a cancellation so I'm getting my hair done.

I hope all goes well with Alaina's dental cleaning.

Tonight is trash night, so we must clean out the litter boxes

A couple loads of laundry

And I think that's going to be it for the night

Good morning !!! :sun: Today Larry is home because he travelled over the weekend and flew home last night. SO - We are headed to the mall - Vision works to pick up my contacts - then we will have lunch, then we both have dermatologist rechecks. Larry's stitches need to be removed from his basal cell procedure and I get to have something frozen off of my arm. :nothappy:

I think after all of that I will need a nap or hit the hay early tonight. Not feeling that great today. Pretty sure a nasty cold is brewing. :slant:

Nice that Larry was home but as for the rest of it: As for the dermatologists, hope all's well.  Generally I  think I'd skip that day, go for a nice long rest, and hope that threatening cold goes way...  Hope it isn't the one I've got coz it's an evil one.

Went to work for the morning.

Did a bit of food shopping on the way home, veggies and milk with a bag of Maltesers and a pack of biscuits snuck in for good measure.... veggies are in the fridge, Maltesers and biscuits are in my belly.

Phone call with my mum after she found out she didn't get the apartment she was interested in buying.  The search goes on.

Thanks @Winchester! Thankfully, there's nothing wrong - it was just a cleaning, but it definitely re-established her fear of the dental specialist...

@Feralvr  Get some rest - sending hopefully healthy vibes

Today (in addition to the cleaning):

Spent 2 hours doing some early spring gardening.

Replaced the dinner tablecloth and washed out the old one.

Went to the orthodontist.

(I'm so grateful that I'm not sick - it seems like everyone at the orthondontist's had the sniffles!
)

I'm glad Alaina made it through her dental OK. It's difficult when they need to see the vet for pretty much anything. There's a reason why our vet is called TED (The Evil Doctor). The last time I took Mollipop in for just a check-up, the tech put her on the scales to weigh her. Mollipop stepped off the scales and walked backward up the front of my shirt. Then she turned around and started climbing over my right shoulder, wrapping her tail around my neck. It was funny until I got a face full of cat butt!
I'm telling you, she walked up backward.

Lauren, are you OK?

Rick is bowling late tonight, so I don't have to worry about getting dinner right away.
  • One load of jeans for the washer
  • Some computer stuff (my co-worker had asked me for a copy of my cookbook as a house-warming present when he bought his house. I still haven't printed it out yet and he reminded me yesterday that I still haven't given it to him.)
  • I'd like to make some chocolate chip cookies to add to Rick's cookie stash for his trip, but I don't know if I'll get them done tonight.
