OK, I need to be here, for sure.  Just confronted the weight thing again a week ago, cut the carbs, which weren't high anyhow, and have been THINKING about exercise.  Other than cleaning house and digging litterboxes and "running" cats here and there.......and I just checked in and have lost 4 lbs in the past week.  So here you are, somebody I can tell who actually cares and is on the same journey. And @Pat
, I'm SUPER impressed with your progress.  I think you're ahead of both my brothers who each had gastric bypass this past year to save their lives, and the third brother who hasn't had it yet.  Way to go!
4 lbs is awesome. Good work.

I really lost control of myself and my eating habbits are chaotic - on average, a very light late breakfast, nothing for lunch and then start eating at 5 pm and stop eating when I go to bed.

So I rejoyned my gym and, more important, I am going to a nutritionist. She made me do a lot of tests and bloodwork. Good news is that I am in very good health, bloodwork revealed all is within parameters and my metabolism is at 93%. Bad news is that I am 35 kg (about 70 pounds) overweight.

She put me on a low carb, 1200 kcals/day diet. I will be starting it tomorrow. I really hope this is what I need because I really dislike my body right now.
Good luck for the week .

I've been doing really well. I didn't get to go to the gym this past week because of work, but I weighed myself yesterday and I'm at 134lbs (started at 139lbs)! I'm not even that concerned about the number, I'm just happy that I've been loving myself more and sticking to a healthier lifestyle.

I even had a bit of a binge a few days ago and... nothing happened! One indulgence isn't the end of the word, don't beat yourself up, everything will be okay! Always maintain a healthy relationship with food, it's not the enemy. Food is nourishment

Good for you!  I don't think I'll ever be down to 134 again.  That weight was a younger me.  Right now I'd be thrilled to get down to 150 from the 180 I am now, which is 4 lbs. less than I was last week.

I would just like to say that it was my daughters birthday this week. I did not eat any cake. We had a party today and I did not eat any chips, lollies, cake ect... I cut myself up some carrots and ate them with dip. This is my 14th day sugar free.

I AM frustrated. The same doctors scale says I have lost 15 pounds but my clothes are either shrinking in the dryer, they are making clothes a size smaller or I don't know.
I am in a wheelchair most of the time for any thing out of the house. But do move around in the house obviously.

I AM on some new meds which I suspect is helping the weight loss (not what it is for).

Makes me not even want to leave the house. Grrr.
Glad I AM losing no matter how it is happening... Any loss will help. I just wish my new clothes showed it.

I will keep on moving mind you. Just frustrated on the clothes.

If they are new clothes then they can be smaller. I find clothing to be very inconsistent with sizing. Even the same brand clothing can vary within the same size. 15 pounds is great weight loss. Well done

It's Monday here. My weight went up by 600gm this week. (1lb). My waist is the same though and my tummy looks firmer and better so I'm not too worried about the gain.

Have a good week everybody. We can do this!!!!

Pants mostly fit (sweats but same sweats for the last few years plus new ones a size up!.
Tops and under clothes do not fit or are snug. I am at a loss since it is old and new clothes.

I will keep on trucking. My goal is to use my legs more out of the house. I bought water today.... no coke. Goooo me! I am going to chill it daily. My kiss love water too chilled. Change out their juice.

I lost 1.5 pounds this past week - more than I expected to find when I did my averaging this morning.  I see my cardiologist tomorrow..I've lost just over 14 pounds since I saw him on April 4th...I think he'll be pleasantly surprised :)

I now hope to see the 180's by my birthday end of July :)

Congratulations to all who lost (or are trying to)! @Pat, you are an inspiration!

I just came back from my nutritionist. I lost 1.9 kg this week, about 4 pounds (I know it's a lot but it was just the first week and I have a lot of weight to loose). I cheated twice, with cherries and popcorn, but I reached my activity goal (7 hours of cardio/week - like zumba, step, stuff like that).

I was on a 1200 kcal low carb diet, I asked my doctor for 1000 kcal and some fruits, I love fruits and I am having a hard time without them.

I know I will lose the weight - I have a good metabolism and I love working out. But I also have a terrible predisposition for yo-yo-ing.

How do you guys control your cravings? (I mostly crave exactly what I am not allowed - carbs- like potatoes, pasta, chocolate...)

I find that my eating plan, when I follow it  :) takes care of the cravings.  Having one meal a day where, in a balanced meal (one with salad, protein, low carb veggies) I can have chocolate, or bread or some other complex carb, works really well for me.  I've been losing my weight by doing a program by Dr's Richard and Rachel Heller called the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program aka CALP, and keeping calories at a max of 1500 per day (usually eat 1400+).  If I do get cravings, I just eat a protein rich snack when I have one until (within the rules of CALP  for meal/snack frequency), in a day or two, the cravings quit.

Well done Pat.

That's a shame Pam, but it's understandable. You will get back on top. You did it before you can do it again.

irinasak irinasak I eat cheese if I have sugar cravings but it's high in calories. I am also very well prepared. When I get home with groceries I wash all my fruit and all my veggies. I cut the ends off my beans, snow peas and asparagus. I cut broccoli and cauliflower into florets and everything is then sealed in clear plastic containers. This way it's very easy to cook dinner in a hurry. I just throw veggies into a steamer. I also have a bowl of raw veggies in the fridge to snack on. Today there was raw beans, carrot sticks, cucumber slices, celery sticks, snow peas and red capsicum. Yes it's a big bowl but I read a good quote this week " nobody ever got fat eating vegetables" i also have a bowl of boiled eggs. I agree with Pat. A snack of protein helps with cravings.

WTG guys this week.
Good job Pat!

I talked to my doctor. Loss could be from a new med she put me on. Some people gain on it and some lose. I lose.
She can not explain the clothes being too tight. I will keep on truckin.

If you can cut carbs to 20gm. a day for two weeks, you will lose weight and lose your carb craving, then you can up your carb allowance a little but not a lot, and only the slow acting carbs.  Your body will always choose to use carbs for energy first, and if it can't find them, it makes you crave them, and if you can get through that withdrawal it gives up and FINALLY converts fat into energy, at which point the carb craving goes away.  You can eat all the healthy fats you want.  When my brother was on Atkins, he was eating enormous amounts of calories and still losing 1-2 lbs a day.  For some of us, calories mean nothing and carbs mean everything.    In the past I could cut down to 500 calories a day, which you are not supposed to do, and would lose nothing.  When I did Atkins with my brother, I was eating about 200 calories a day and losing about half a pound a day.  (Thats the early 20 gm. carb induction phase).  I'm a little sloppy lately but never have over 100 gm. carbs in any day, and some days am down to the 20 gm.  Haven't managed that for 2 weeks in a row though, but it's pretty radical.  It DOES work though. The 4 lbs I lost last week was because I did that, but this week I'm on the "stress" diet due to one problem after the other and so am eating about 100 gm. carbs a day and not losing anything (not gaining either though.)

Thank you for your replies. I think that 20 g of carbs would be so hard to do - right now I am at 30+ g of carbs, but in the 3 days/week I am allowed fruits (150g, not any fruit), I jump at 50 g of carbs.

At 1200 calories/day I was not hungry, at 1000 I am starting to feel hunger and it feels good, I can't remember when I felt it last. I was so used to being full all the time. I am watching My 600 lbs life these days and, boy, really makes me think of how easy it is to just lose yourself into eating.

Did your nutritionist tell you to drop to 1000cal a day? If you drop below 1200cal a day your body is at risk of going into survival mode. It will hold onto fat in order to survive.
