Tabata is intense!  But seriously effective.

I'm terrified of bears.  I would probably start freaking out just over the tracks.

I biked 38 min Friday, and today I ran 5 min X3 for a total of 15 min.  I will probably go for a short bike ride tonight.

Add a 7.89 mi bike ride, 44 min.  Trying to burn off pizza and nervous energy.

I did biceps and chest today. I finally had good form with my biceps. Yay!! It gives me confidence that I'll get it right for all exercises eventually.
I discussed tabata. I didn't realise I was supposed to be doing the sprints and jogging around the oval every week. I thought I was meant to do different cardio each week. Oops. So I'm going to do tabata in my next six week block. It will be well into winter then so it's a good inside option. It looks easy when other (super fit )people are doing it On YouTube!!!Oh why do I get these crazy ideas???!!!
You are so right though Peaches it is supposed to be very effective. I'll deal with it in a few weeks time ;)

Yeah, good old roadside shopping. XD It's not unusual to find stuff on the side of the road with 'free' signs here so drive around enough and you'll eventually find something you can use. The trick is having a vehicle that can actually transport said items. Definitely wouldn't fit in my car, but fortunately my stepfather has a truck.

Just finished day 3 of Couch to 5k not even an hour ago. Feeling pretty gross which means I must be doing something right. :p Haven't started 30DS yet; plan to by the end of the week.

Some people manage to transport even a cough with a bicycle, but usually our advanced societies tend to put some limits of what is possible, in 3rd world countries they manage to carry ridiculous cargo's with bicycles, so lot more is possible what one first thinks :D

It does amaze me how we in western world have got bit lazy in terms of physical work, when compared for example to those rickshaw riders from India, can you imagine biking with such heavy bike and with heavy western tourists sitting on back? They must have much better strength than what I imagine possible.
For example these weight 75kg which is around what an average male weights:
http://www.cyclesmaximus.com/

Often I find myself thinking some task is impossible for me, then I see some video from 3rd world how even kids routinely manage such things, if they can why on earth it would so that thing would be impossible for me then? That, kind of inspires me to try harder, workout more, so that more would be possible to me.

My cycle computer does not work below +15C and it has been barely +10C here again, nights are below freezing, heat wave is just a memory now, had no chance to do bicycle ride today, too much water and wind, but maybe tomorrow is better. Yeah, I think that I'm just being lazy, I'm sure rickshaw riders don't even get the choice to complain about rain or cold :-\

OK, I tried the elliptical tonight with Buford. It's not easy. Buford keeps slipping front on the pedal and my toes end all curled up at the front end. And I'm really off-balance, so it's hard to pedal and my right shin was really hurting. I know...sounds like a heckuva excuse, but it is difficult.  I did manage 1/2 mile, but that was it. Will try again tomorrow morning.

I also did ten minutes of the cardio-glide in the basement tonight. I was so tempted to try the treadmill, but I knew that if Rick came to the basement to check up on me, I'd be in very deep doodoo. No treadmill.

Still it's a start.

I understand your frustration, but I would not get on the elliptical with Buford.  That sounds really dangerous.  Is the right shin where the top of the boot is pressing?

I did my legs and abs today. 4 sets 60 sec rest. I am supposed to only have 10 sec between exercises but I admit I dawdled a bit with my legs. My form is improving. I am not crying and carrying on as much.

I know. The ortho-weenie specifically said that I could still use the elliptical. But when I got on it last night, the boot kept sliding up toward the front of the pedal and I was constantly trying to move it back. And considering that he doesn't want the foot to move around much, my foot was up and down with the movements of the elliptical, and I know that can't be good because it's still putting pressure on that tendon....I can feel it.

I don't mean to harp on you.  You are a grown woman and certainly no dummy.  And you have expert help.  But the first thing I thought of when you described the situation was "groin injury."  I just worry for my friends, it's truly well-intended.

The ortho doc probably thought that the boot would "catch" and not slide as much, but it is.  Can you take pics and call him to see what he advises?  Pics of the boot, even if by itself in the elliptical so he can think of a solution?

I did 1/4 sprints and 1/2 jogs around and oval for 20 mins today. My body is starting to firm up and look better. I've gained 2 kilos and I'm pretty sure that's it's all muscle. :woohoo:

I'm using the Zen Labs free app for it. I couldn't figure out which one was the 'official' one so I just picked the top one. /shrug. Even if it's not the official one it's still pretty effective. I'm actually in decent shape cardio-wise given that my job requires me to be on my feet and moving quite a bit. Never even noticed until I took a trip to DC for a long weekend with a friend earlier this year. He had to stop every once in awhile to rest but I can literally walk all day long with no particular issues. Of course, jogging/running is something else entirely, heh.

They all have the same goal, to get you running.  I was just curious in that I've seen some that do it in 8 weeks, some take 5 months.  God on you for getting out there!

I ran 5 min, 3X so total 15 min.  Off to shower and doc appt.

I think that I did overdo my workout this time.

Duration 3 hours 48 minutes
Average heart rate 137
Maximum heart rate 165 (whatever I did, it did not get higher so that has to be my max)

First half I took easy, heart rate between 85 and 110, it took again over 15 minutes until heart rate reached 100 first time, but as I stopped it was again near 60.

Morning blood pressure check did show heart rate of 47.

At mid point I visited nature preservation site (click to see larger version of this composition):

Then I climbed a bit, it was bit difficult as I did get off the saddle, but still front tire got off from ground, insane grip from those Bontrager LT3 tires on that surface:

Until I found out that I need to practice a bit to climb to the top of the hill:

Actually steepness of the last climb is not very well seen from the photo, those rocks were quite steep incline already, then after those were nearly vertical wall which path did run up, even by foot very difficult to climb.

Second half I took quite hard, especially last 10km I think that my heart rate was not below 140 even once there, last 6km it was not below 150 as I pushed with all my might, I think that last 1km it was above 160 constantly and only at end of that 1km I started to feel legs tiring a bit.

At the beginning of workout legs felt lead, after the workout they felt the same, but there was slight burning sensation that did go away very quickly, it's now about 2 hours when I came back, ate a bit and I feel same as the morning, could do same workout again. Well, except my rear end might not be up to the task, muscles there tended to get quite exhausted, but other than that I guess I could do the same, I'm not even tiniest bit of tired.

Only odd thing is that legs felt like being lead before and after, still they worked quite ok.

48.4km of distance, 1.8km from that was wondering around nature preservation site.

Well done everybody

I did back and triceps yesterday. Today I'm doing shoulders, calves and abs. My last day of the week. 4 weeks completed of this routine. 2 to go.

This one is the 8 week program. I feel like my fitness level is high enough that a 5 month one would be too easy. Just finished week 2 day 2, even tired from work last night it doesn't feel bad, by the last jogging segment I was getting a bit worn out but not in an I'm dying sort of way. As long as I rest for 15-20 minutes and drink some water I'm perfectly fine.

Great job everybody!  I was initially going to take today off since I did a lot of housework, but plans changed on me tonight so I went out for a bike ride.  9.89 mi in 58 min.
