2.5 miles (36 minutes) on the elliptical this morning

Here you go, Judy:

This is the 2013 elliptical; mine is about 4 years old now, I think. We got it after I had knee surgery and my ortho guy told me to do more cross-training. So I use the elliptical in the morning and walk during lunch at work. (Having some foot problems right now, so am not walking every day, just every other day until I get into see the doctor. Am walking on the treadmill. The elliptical is in the bedroom; the treadmill is down in the basement.)

Whew!  Biked 40 min, my usual route, and pedaled pretty hard in some places to pass slower bicyclists and dodging crazy drivers.  I was panting most of the time, some of it due to bronchitis I'm sure.

Rain day here, so I did do some bicycle repairs and modifications, now I have transferred gear system from mountain bike to my hybrid and from my hybrid to my mountain bike, so that I have also hybrid bike in operational state.

Hybrid has now 8 speeds at rear and 3 at front, everything working, MTB waits for new parts so that I can get all gears at front working and also to make chain go straight instead of in angle as when chain is not straight it starts to wear out cogs really fast.

I should workout more, I tend to avoid riding in rain now as chain might get dirty :D

@peaches08, take it easy when body is not well, if your muscles run out of oxygen they will not improve as well as normally they would.

Of course there is exercise that aims to get muscles to run out of oxygen, but that is for improving oxygen transfer when one has solid basic foundations build up and I think one has to be some kind of athlete until attempting such, but at least in prime physical condition.

Good thing in cold weather is that if there is a fly, I just need to open a door for a moment and soon fly will slow down enough for me to catch it easily, protein for the cats :)

No kidding!  Relapsing over too-hard of exercising is not fun.  That's why I'm biking instead of running...no way can I run like this.

Good work everyone.

I hope you are feeling better Peaches. :hugs:

I've missed a few days of posting. I did cardio on wed. I ran around my lake and shaved 3 minutes off my best time. Woo Hoo!! I thought I would have lost some cardio fitness along the way. Yesterday I did back, tri and calves. My back is still letting me down. My new routine is 6 chin ups!!!! Yep that's right. I haven't managed two yet but hopefully by the end of six weeks I will be able to do them. I desperately want to be able to do them. It's a pity I can't practice.

Today I'm doing shoulders and abs.
I'm on my 5th sugar free day and I have a headache and I'm a grouchy bear. I'm aiming for six weeks sugar free. :D

Feeling better although I still can't breathe well for cardio, so today I went out for a 45 min bike ride.  Had a pretty tough head wind in some places like the East Beach causeway and the airport, so I got a got a good workout in.  Yesterday I did a bunch of housework:  vacuum, mopping, and I raked a bunch of leaves from the driveway to the planting beds.  My back was a bit sore this morning from all that.  I'm not running for a while until I get over this bronchitis.  Maybe this is the push I need to get back into my videos?

Tammat, I can appreciate wanting to do chin ups.  Those things are harder than they look.  I can also appreciate the no sugar thing.  I remember when I went South Beach for a while years ago, I had a terrible headache and was going insane for something sweet.  Diet Coke saved my life.  Or others lives, whichever.  LOL!

I did help farmer with removing rocks/stones from his field, I took my HRM with me and recorded 111 average heart rate and 149 maximum, that included two breaks, so actual average heart rate was tad higher.

Meter did show such calorie count that my todays total burned calories will be about 6000kcal, but I still don't feel exhausted, however I did slept only 5 hours and I did sleep bit over hour on lawn after I came back, was so sleepy that I could not make it to bed, cat woke me up by bumping his head against me, pettins time he thought :D

Today I went on a 30 min bike ride.  I stopped by a private lake and watched some ducks for a minute.

Good work everybody

Glad to hear you are feeling better Peaches.

Yesterday I did chest, biceps and abs. This week I have 60 sec rest between sets. Last week I had 75 secs. I am doing legs today. Just trying to psych myself into it!!! I am learning to push through the pain and keep going instead of taking little breaths. I am loving it.

Keep going everybody :D

I need to loose 35lbs, I have already lost around 55lbs, which was quite easy, but I have been quite long now at 245lbs.

I did bit of math with spreadsheet I found from this post http://www.barbellsandbeakers.com/2012/07/04/the-math-behind-weight-loss-caloric-deficit-explained/

I needed to use this to get some estimate about my body fat percentage http://www.healthstatus.com/calculators/ found out it to be 29.77%

Eventually I got around 3000kcal for answer which is calories I need to consume to keep my current weight if I choose number 3 level of activity for describing me and bit under 2500kcal to be reducing weight.

Then I used our Fineli food database, http://www.fineli.fi/?lang=en to calculate what I get from what I eat, which I made yet another spreadsheet of.

From that I found out that I get around 1800kcal from my food, which is quite bit less than I should get.

That is perhaps what leads then me to fail in avoiding sweets, so I would need to actually eat more to loose weight, I try next to add some creceals, orange juice and self made bread to my diet, attempting to reach into proper nutrition level, if my budget just can allow that, it might be not possible.

Walked 3.2 mi in 51 min today.  I'd have rather biked, but I need to change up the routine a little and walking the 3.2 mi is harder than biking it.  Maybe I'll get a light bike ride in a little later.

I did bike 21km today on difficult roads where tires sank a bit on ground and also there was quite a bit of those sections with 2 inch diameter rock poured on road so thick layer that it felt like riding on those kids ball sea things.

Stones were slipping, not my tires so much.

Burned around 5500kcal today in total, there was grass and other stuff growing on my garden field so I had to turn the soil and while I was at it, I did plant some carrots, tomatoes, onions, peas and things I can't name. Also I put more potatoes into ground, took many hours as some stones had grown back to ground and I had to remove them too, also those annoying pest plants had dug deep.

It is only about 4 x 6 meters area (around three times in feet), but I can get months worth of potato from it, might get whole years worth if I would just put potato to whole area, however I have no ability to do that much gardening.

I did also do few kilometer walk and also visited bigger shop when I got a ride from neighbor, there was cheap orange juice, so I took loads of it and got bit funny looks in cash register line as it was 17kg (bit over 37lbs) that I did carry, but I did not felt it being heavy, good bit of doing heavy lifting daily is that there is reserve for most of normal daily tasks and it makes many things so much easier, well worth to go trough all the pain and sweating.

Keep up exercising everyone!

I did my legs yesterday and today was cardio. It was raining most of the day so I was unable to run so I attempted a circuit but I just didn't have it in me today. I'm feeling a bit disappointed in myself but I'll just have to go extra hard tommorow. ;)

38km of bicycling on gravel and mud today, took it easy so only 1740kcal burned there.

Then I sharpened my scythe and took down most of the pest plants or whatever those unwanted stuff are called, that took more than an hour (It is actually harder work than bicycling, I have to stop to gasp breath every now and then), watered my garden things and took out some of grass that had started to grow again. Complete calories burned from activity comes to around 3000kcal I think, then 2000kcal of base consumption on that and it was around 5000kcal day, I have eaten around 3000kcal worth today, about half of that was orange juice, so I should be quite ok, maybe some cereals for supper :D

Biked 40 min today.  It was a hot 90 degrees.
That is too hot to even move eyeballs! :D

We had again weird heat wave, 84 degrees, I put together stone oven to my yard, well, it is not finished yet and I think that I need to do it again as it is quite poorly made now, my very first one and first ever layering of stones, I have no idea how to do it properly, but I try and learn, hopefully at least.

Those bigger than head stones are not very light and carrying them around was bit of workout.

I found huge stone earlier today as I was planting even more potatoes, it was so big that I had no idea how to move it, so I build oven to top of it, it wont catch fire and ice will not cause my oven to collapse when it is on such big rock :D

I did not have my HRM with me today so I have not really idea about how much I burned today, maybe between 3000 to 4000 or more, it was bit heavy work only short time every now and then, so can't be much more.

There will be bit of workout at autumn when potatoes are ready, I did put around 10kg in already, there is still few kg's left, so I guess I will get bit over 100kg of them that needs to be pulled up quite close where snow comes.

I did my shoulders and abs on Friday. I was so tired Friday and Saturday and was wondering is it all worth it if I have to sleep all the time but I feel great today ( Sunday) and I'm really looking forward to working out tommorow.

This sounds good, it will get certainly better with time, so that one is not as tired after the workout.

I did ride 20.6km today, different direction than last few times so now I had quite a few big hills to climb up. Here is a pic, altitude graph has one odd spike, it is there in other track of same route also, maybe there are some trees so that gps goes bit crazy.

Only top part is tarmac, rest was hard packed gravel and quite bit of crushed stone which was quite interesting when going downhill, Bontrager LT3 tires seem to work fine when lowering pressure, surprisingly they still roll quite well, not huge difference with low and high pressure and they are quite fast tires even on tarmac.

Quite fast ride this time, I could of gone faster, but I wanted to stay in my aerobic range, as anaerobic range has little use to me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaerobic_exercise

One Spanish cyclist had resting heart rate of 28bpm, also many athletes tend to have very low resting heart rate, that is why I have it around 50 or even bit below as I exercise quite often. After today's ride I did feel bit tired from legs, but it did go away quite soon, when I came home heart rate was 120, I picked up bicycle, put it into garage and heart rate was already below 90, I recover a lot faster now than year ago, also I can push much harder for longer without tiring so much, rarely I feel like running out of steam, great thing is that now I can do quite a bit pedaling at 140bpm and it will not make me very tired, after hill ends hear rate soon decreases and legs feel still strong, that is something new for this summer, exercise is paying off there.

My bathroom scale is lying, I did measure myself, then I visited toilet and after that I thought I measure myself again, I did gain almost a pound in that few minutes according to scale, that is impossible, I should have lost some weight :D

As for motivation, read up this small text, I like a lot of how writer thinks, I was about to start doing some weights for arm strength, but there are some trees and logs to be chopped, moved throwed etc. :D

This week I have 75 sec rests again but I'm doing 4 sets instead of three. Today I did my chest, biceps and abs.

Keep it up everybody :woohoo:

It is a tendon problem and I'm in both a boot and a brace. No walking without it, no walking for exercise. For four weeks. If that doesn't help, the next and only option is surgery.
I can't drive, so Rick will have to take me back and forth to work. He's going to love that. Next ortho appt is July 8.
