I was thinking about you, Tammat, and wondering how make out with your trainer. I'm really proud of you!

Great job, everybody!

That sounds so cool, Tammat!  Form is really important; kudos to you for the courage to get out there and get a trainer.  What kind of exercises did you do?

This morning I ran 22 + 7 = 29 min.  It's overcast and dark, so some of the run was a little scary (can't see potholes, etc.)

Good work everyone.
I have just got home from my first personal training session. I am still shaking!! I was so nervous going there, taking deep breaths in the car. He just went over lots of different exercises in a circuit to see what I can do and if I do them correctly.  I am booked in for Friday again and that will be the real deal. The sooner I can feel relaxed the better. I'm so glad to have pushed myself out of my comfort zone though. Its going to be worth it

Go! Go! Go!
Well done! I'm another that would prefer to exercise in the privacy of my home, other than walking.

I walked a little over 4 miles the day before yesterday. Yesterday I meant to get on the exercise bike, but I got so deep into cleaning the living room that it was time to make dinner by the time I finished. Can I count vacuuming, dusting, etc?

Rode my exercise bike for session 2 this week - not going to let this baby habit stop it's growth to being a permanent habit!  LOL.  Rode the bike for 31 minutes.

Good work everybody.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going back on Friday so I won't do anything until then. I will have a plan and some homework on Friday though. Yesterday I did a bit of everything. I did dips, bicep curls with a bar, I used a machine with weights for my chest , squats, sit ups and I learnt how to do bent rows? Something like that? I went to bed at 8 pm!! I was exhausted from exercise and nervous energy. He said my back is weaker than my front. He's a nice man. Very professional with a clip board ect.

3 miles on the treadmill this morning

3.25 miles walking during lunch (and I can testify that every single one of those steps was absolutely miserable)

Bent-over rows...such a good back exercise!  It sounds like a great program, Tammat.  Can't wait to hear more of what he's teaching you.  You have a nutrition plan too from what I understand?  I'm guessing a lot of clean foods with lots of protein?

I ran 24 + 5 = 29 min today.  It was cold but I got through it.  At least I don't deal with snow and ice like you folks do.

6 miles walked yesterday. I think my eyeballs froze.

There is no possible way I can walk today. The wind is to the point it is scary. I'm going to try to do the bike, but I am having a hard time settling down. I keep hearing bangs, crashes and limbs breaking outside.

Sking glasses, I can easily get up to 30MPH (that is with mountain bike, maintaining speed is another story) and no watery eyes.

With mountainbike and appropriate gear they even don't look out of place, muddy gravel road without fenders adds finishing touches :D

I did do only few miles today, also boring tarmac, but speeds get quite high and glasses are needed.

Few days ago I did 13 miles on muddy gravel roads, tires sank into road 1 to 2 inches, steepest climb bit over 20 degrees, legs were burning after that, took me two hours and I did not hold much back. Like swimming in tar.

Took 3 hours to clean all sand from bicycle.

Quite little bicycling lately as more of chainsaw and axe action, that is good exercise too, after 6 hours chainsaw starts to feel tad heavier than what it felt at the morning.

Rode my exercise bike for 30 minutes today - my 3rd session of the week.  I'm determined to not let this new habit fall by the wayside.

Great work, guys! Keep going!

I was on the Fitbit Community forum last night checking up on hints for using the elliptical. Y'all know that the Fitbit doesn't take all of the elliptical work. I would do 3.25 miles on the elliptical and the Fitbit might record maybe 1.81 miles and that's if I was lucky. I've done 3 miles and it's only recorded less than one mile. Well, somebody said that he's been attaching his Fitbit to his waist, sticking it in his pocket, putting it around his ankle, etc. I figured, I'd give it a try. This morning, I latched it together and threw it into the left pocket of my sweatpants. I did 3.25 miles on the elliptical this morning.....and the Fitbit recorded 3.21 miles! That's a first for me and it's much closer than it's ever been.

Karen, yesterday when I went out in the wind, I had my ear muffs on and my sunglasses (I always wear sunglasses, even on cloudy days). The wind was so gusty that I even put my hood up on my jacket. And my eyes were still watering. It was just nasty.

I've considered getting some skiing glasses. I really have. I walked on days when it was so windy, my eyes hurt and the cold brought tears to my eyes. I know that for next winter, I'm investing in some good insulated underwear. And a good hat, too.

Here's a tip I never use which is not to do more exercise than you can handle and get burned out!

The ski goggles are a good idea!

Let's see, today I woke up 6am and at 7am I had managed to get sharpening equipment out and night stalkers in.

After I managed to sharpen all the tools I started chopping wood with axe, which I did until 1pm, it was quite many hours of hard work, knots are annoying in birch that has seasoned a bit.

It is now 3pm and I visited at shop with bicycle before making something to eat. It is around 8-9km trip to shop and back.

I have had now somewhat urge to make some weight lifting equipment, I have one metal bar and I have been thinking of making Flinstones like weights by cutting piece of log and put those on both ends of metal bar, it would look quite nice with white birch tree surface and that outer layer of birch would prevent them cracking too much too.

Maybe that would give me bit more of motivation to do that boring workout which I would need to get into better shape as bicycling and using an axe will get only so far.

I didn't work out yesterday, and it's a good thing since our day at clinical was crazy.  My ankles and knees still hurt from it.  I ran 26 + 3 = 29 min, but only about 2.4 miles today since I'm still sore.

I've seen goggles for sale for bikers, and it makes a lot of sense.  I've run in high winds before and couldn't hardly make tears fast enough.  Great idea!

There are also bicycling sun glasses that are more protective against bugs and wind than regular sun glasses, but I have found out goggles being far superior and good bit of them is that ears will not hurt either as that elastic band goes over ears and from back of your head.

Goggles are also great if there is lot of dust on air when windy (here at spring quite common) as dust is not entering into goggles.

Yes my nutrition plan is very clean with lots of protein. I could never have imagined myself eating this way without being starving and cheating but its not hard at all and I feel great. Ok so I felt great until last night!!! I had my first proper weight session. I did it. I enjoyed it and then a few hours later my arms burned and ached and I was so tired I did want a bag of snickers or a big bag of something terribly naughty!! I didn't though.

I did flat press, incline. Bent rows, pull down, shoulder press, lateral raises, arm curls, incline curls, press down rope undergrip press down.

On Monday ill do my legs and abs. I am told legs are a killer.

You guys are going great. I'm glad you got the fitbit sorted out Winchester. We do not want to be robbed of any of our hard work!! And protecting our eyes is so important.

Keep up the good work everybody:D

Tammat, I think it's wonderful. You're doing a great job. And the fact that your arms hurt mean you're doing the exercises well. Keep it up!

Good job, everybody!

3.25 miles on the elliptical this morning (It's not a fluke with the Fitbit....I did 3.25 miles and it took 3.13 miles, still not exact, but it's a lot closer than it used to record. We're probably talking a loss of 1800 steps every day I did 3 miles on the elliptical versus the treadmill. There are days when I can really use those 1800 steps.)

2.50 miles on the treadmill

Did you ever get antsy and not know what to do with yourself? I felt that way today. I just felt that I had some energy that I needed to burn off. Kept walking around the house, looking for things to do. And finally, I said, "OK! Fine!" Grabbed my iPod and went downstairs and hit the treadmill.
