Happy New Year Friends! It's still pretty early here in PST but I'm sick with a really bad flu (husband, too, it really bites) and do not know how much longer I will be able to stay awake this evening. (In case you are wondering, we both got flu shots in November, ugh it didn't help.)

What are you looking forward to in 2014?

My family has two happy events this year; my niece is getting married in January, and my nephew is getting married in August. They are having traditional weddings with receptions and I'm looking forward to seeing family and dancing a bit with my husband. They are both engaged to really good people, and it's wonderful to have some happy events to celebrate!

I hope you and your husband feel better soon, Swampwitch. Having the flu is just the worst.

I am looking forward to living in our new house and being out of the negative environment of our old rental. And I am looking forward to going back to work.

Happy New Year, TCS Folks!
Best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014. And thank you for all the advice and companionship over the past year. :rub:

Happy New Year, and What a way to start off the new year.

I'm looking forward to visiting my family in the U.S. this year. I didn't manage it the last few years due to Jamie's health problems, so a visit is long overdue.

I am looking forward to having a good job the whole year through.  Just started a new job in October.  I love it!  But the job I had before was not so good, I didn't make all that much money cause I was on commission and business was slow slow slow.  Also hoping to have healthier kitties for 2014.

So sorry you're ill, SwampWitch.. what a way to start the year.

I don't mind the question being early at all, though, as it's a bit of a novelty for me to get to answer on the right day.

I can't really describe what I'm looking forward to, as it's more a state of mind. I had decided to take stock of everything I've taught over the past twenty years, and I'm really looking forward to putting it in some sort of order, with the help of a new laptop.  I know it doesn't sound exciting, but that's the point.  It actually is, to me.

More immediately, I'm 'going bush' with one of my best friends in a couple of days.  We have a cabin in the hills for five days, and we rarely get to see each other, so it will be a treat.

I'm sorry you have the flu, Swamp Witch and I hope you feel better soon. One of my co-workers had a flu shot and he, too, is just getting over the flu. Sometimes you can't win.

I'm looking forward to a new year....period. We lost both Whisper and Bootser in 2013, so we're looking forward to 2014 as a healthy year for all of us, including our furkids; we don't want to lose any more cats for a long time.

I'm looking forward to spring and warm weather and getting outside to work in the yard again and to get some things done around the house.

Rick and I have been really looking over our debt and, while we don't have much, we'd like to get rid of everything we can this year. We have no mortgage....all we really have is a car payment (for the Tucson), so it would great to be able to pay that off. And we'd really like to start socking extra money into our retirement accounts.

As for any trips, we haven't really thought about it. Rick will take his union trips to Oregon; I think his first one is in March. I don't have any vacation weekends planned; we tried last year and didn't make much of any of our plans, other than going to Wisconsin and that was for Rick's union work, too....although we really had a great time. I'd love to get back up to Niagara-on-the-Lake, if we could. My sister and I would like to take a couple weekends for wine tours, if we can swing it. And maybe combine them with some antique shopping (or in my case, antique viewing....I look, but rarely buy).

Something pretty trivial.....I'm looking forward to taking more pictures. I used to take a lot of pictures and we always had a ton of pictures of the cats, the house, the flowerbeds, food, everything. I loved to take lots of pictures. In the last few years, I've really stopped taking pictures and  I'd like to start doing that again.

May we all have good health and happiness for 2014.
 Feel better, Swamp Witch

I'm looking forward to "a new year, period" as well. I aim to finish nursing school, get a job I like, start rebuilding my credit, and clean out the ruckus in my life.

2013 had some rough stuff; but we've been plenty blessed in it too.  It just doesn't feel like a change in the calender signifies much I guess.  I've never been one for resolutions either.  I guess I'm a New Years Sourpuss!

I am looking forward to a cousin's wedding this summer.  I'm nervous/excited to start more structured home-schooling for my DD this fall.

Our big thing is my BF is going back to school this year, at 54 years of age.  In fact, he has never been to college so this is a HUGE big deal.  I've kind of gotten used to him being home a lot and handling many of the household chores; his work situation has been dismal for a long time hence him finally deciding to go back to school.  So 2014 is going to be challenging for us both.  Him school and me losing the sureness of clean laundry when needed lol.

We had been planning to go away this year on a big vacation to celebrate several things; both of us turn 55, I'm at my current job 5 years, and him and I have known each other now for 5 years as well.  Plus, I get an additional week vacation this year making it easier to get away.  But now, school is more important and I'm not sure if we will be able to get away this year or not.  But, I still am researching "just in case"!

I'm looking forward to getting a jungle carpet python and possibly getting ferrets. I'll also be starting to breed rats soon.

Just looking forward to a new year as some have already expressed. We lost our 14 year old Muffin the 15th of November and then my sister a week later. There are some other things that we dealt with this year that were very stressful and I am glad it is all behind us now. I am claiming good health for hubby, me and Mattie, our remaining cat. I also claim happiness, little stress and blessings for the new year.
Another thing is I still want a new mattress. We have it picked out and did find a flippable one at a furniture store about 45 miles away. It just got put on the back burner with all that happened in November and December. Hubby has to remove the current mattress set and nail some new bed slats across the bed frame before we can call and get it delivered. Hopefully he won't change his mind before it gets done.
