Albert doesn't like to get his feet wet.

Albert with his sister Sophie, father Gin Kun (Light grey) and mother Tokiko (Dark grey.)

For some  reason these two always had white kittens with blue eyes. All of them have been spayed and neutered now.

The lake near my house has frozen nearly all the way across this year.

Thanks for the welcome, Norachan, and the nice comments about our girls. Our older girl Saphira was a surprise Christmas gift from our daughters. After having had cats from 1974 (before we were married), our last kitty departed in 2007 when our youngest girl left for Las Vegas for grad school and took our last kitty with her. In 2011 at Christmas the same daughter handed me a small package to open, which contained a framed photo of a cat. I must have looked confused when she said, "Oh, your gift is not the picture, it's the cat!" Yes, I KNOW that one should NEVER give a pet as a gift, but this one worked out great, took as about 2 days for us to fall in love with Saphira, and she is very bonded with us as well. So much so that we adopted Viola less than a year later.

They are both totally indoor kitties, and really show no inclination to go outdoors, and are perfectly happy chasing each other all over the house and playing fetch with their humans.

Do I recall that some of your kitties have short tails? I seem to remember that there is a breed called a Japanese Bobtail? Not sure how common those are, are any of yours like that?

Hi Warren,

That's such a nice thing for your daughter to do. What a wonderful gift!

Yes, I do have a few short tailed cats. They're not pure bred bobtails, but the gene that causes that short tail in Japanese cats is quite common around here so we see lots of short, curly or bent tails.

I was going to post a few pictures here, but then I realised that I had so many pictures of their odd looking tails that I ought to start a new thread.

Please take a look.

I bet Saphira and Viola have got some beautiful long striped tails.

We had huge amount of snow (by our standards) back in 2011, it was over 1 meter / 3-foot when I took pic of my Mouku sitting on yard where I had made some pathways:

He is quite large fellow, he has bit of trouble fitting on my lap and I'm over 6 foot tall.

After that I did capture him and since then he has been only at indoors, he has adopted quite well already. I could start socialization process after I got him indoors and it took few months until he was enough brave to be in same room with me without hiding, but he is also only one that likes to sleep over my legs, also he is only one stomping on my chest when he thinks I need to be awaken, claws extended of course, no use to pretend to be sleeping.

Mouku is beautiful. I love his thick coat.

I'm sure he's very happy to be an indoor cat . Even the hardiest feral loves his home comforts.

I think this was bit funny his paws pointing different directions like if he would have split desires about where to go next, so better do some nose licks and do heavy thinking :D

My cats are indoor cats, but I took them out one at a time a few weeks ago in the deep snow to see how they'd react.  Fritos was the only one that stayed still enough for me to get a good picture.

Sophie's look says it all! ... What, exactly, are you going to do about this???!!!!

Yes, you're right.
Sophie and Albert aren't built for the cold weather. They hardly went further than the the front porch for a whole month.

Great!
I wonder what she could smell in that patch of snow? She looked horrified.

It might be another cats from around the neighbourhood. Pretty cool stuff :)
Judging by the tracks leading up to the spot and the way the snow was disturbed, I would say that another cat used that spot to pee or poo. Talk about frozen hiney.

If you check out the clip at the end I think Safa is actually preparing to take a piss :-)
