Carnations....I love the spicy scent.

Followed by lilacs....again for their fragrance. Nothing speaks Spring to me like the smell of lilacs wafting through the house!

We have a patch of Lily of the Valley in our flowerbed in the back yard. I love to sit there and weed; the scent of the lilies is intoxicating.

Sometimes I think that, in our efforts to get bigger and better blooms on our flowers and especially the hybrids, we've taken the smells away. I love to sit on a swing on a spring afternoon and smell the flowers. But we don't seem to be able to do that much anymore. Or maybe we're not growing the right flowers.

lt has to be white Calla lillies, l think they're one of the most beautiful things l've ever seen.

Closely followed by Daffodils, the huge-trumpeted solid yellows.

Orchids and bromeliads. I'm fascinated by them.

Lilacs; purple ones!  I love the color, the scent...everything!  The year my son was born my Mom and Step-dad bought me 2 bushes for Mother's day.  I had something attack it that year and we thought they were dead; but they came back last year!  I was so happy!  I want to plant some of that "bloomerang" variety that is supposed to bloom repeatedly.

For looks, I love violets. They do have a scent, but it's very faint.

For scent, my favorite flower is carnation. Love that spicy sent.

I'm very lucky in that DH gets roses for me, but I haven't the heart to tell him that I'm not crazy about roses, especially red ones--which is what he buys me! If I have roses, I'd prefer shell pink ones, or yellow ones.

Roses - old type for sure.  I grow them, or as many as I can grow on my property - I have 10 bushes of varying types all picked specifically for their scent.

No point in growing a rose if it doesn't smell nice, or at all.

There are too many others to list; lilac and heliotrope come right to mind.  The heliotrope has a really vanilla type of smell.

I really dislike red roses.  They always seem too mundane to me.  The only ones I do like are those that are nearly black - which is hard to find at a florist.  I grow one of those, called Papa Meilland and oh my the scent is just over the top.  LUV

My BF figured that one out pretty fast - he usually gets me pinks, apricots or yellow tones.

Yes, that's how I feel, but I did forget to say that I love Dr. Huey roses. My Mom had several that sprung up in our yard, and she always tried to kill them (she hated the color red, but did manage to birth a red-headed daughter, me!). Thankfully, she never succeeded in killing them. It's the only red rose I truly like, and the scent is not very rose-like, it's a bit spicy/musky. When she sold the house I spent most of my life in, I took a cutting, and rooted it. It died, or so I thought. The next spring, one sprung up by the heat pump, which has a white trellis enclosure, and, wow, do those roses look so pretty growing on it! I was so happy that I had managed to save it--I was so sad in thinking I killed the one thing from my old home. And, it makes me smile--I think of Mom--and how she would've laughed to think that blasted rose out-lived her, and came to live at my house!

Here's a link: www.plantwhateverbringsyoujoy.com   (search for Dr. Huey Rose)  Mom's were the darker red ones--a sort of burgundy-pink, velvety rose. Really pretty!

(can't paste again!)

Oh man, I love lilies or all kinds but especially calla lilies, and amaryllis and daffodils. Pretty much anything that grows from a bulb. I used to have a bunch, but after three years of never showing my houseplants any interest at all, one of my cats decided out of nowhere she wanted to chew on my houseplants (thank god she went for the non-toxic ones first) and I had to give them all away to friends. Now all I have are cacti and cat grass, but I'd rather have fewer plants and a healthy cat so I don't mind too much. I miss my pretty flowers, though!

I really like January jasmines (also known as winter honeysuckle)-the smell is just heavenly. I have a bowl of hanging jasmines in my bedroom, the dining room, and the den. But the most abundant plant in my house is cat grass.

I don't know that I've ever seen those.  I need to look them up.  DH introduced me to honeysuckle nectar earlier this year while on vacation.  The smell was amazing!  I'd love to have that here!  I'm not usually an indoor plant type of person; but I'd love some more things planted outside!  I need some scents for after the lilacs are done.
