Need to donate food in Southern California

I'm trying to donate some food before 2013 ends for tax purposes. I live in Long Beach, CA, but found that our shelter is closed Mon. and Tues. I've tried calling a few other shelters, but none have returned my calls. I've looked on the internet for other shelters, but many of them do not list a phone number or even a physical location, probably because they are run by a handful of volunteers.

If anyone knows of a close by shelter that I can get tax donation receipt from, please let me know how to contact them. The food is all canned and 90% of it is premium quality - Wellness/Wellness Core, Tiki Cat, By Nature, etc.

If there's no one to give to, that's OK. I was thinking of fostering cats and would use the food then, but don't know when I'll start, so donating the food is preferable.

Some shelters missed out on some really good food. I'm trying to see if a friend of a friend would like to purchase it at a heavy discount now.
