My cat is about 3 years old and since he was younger he would bite at his penis till it bled. He would sit there biting away and growling. It has been awful. We took him to the vet and they said that he had a tiny growth on it almost like a crystal or something. They put him on special food. I had him on it for a long time and then i stopped because it was expensive and didn't seem to be doing much good. He stopped doing it for almost a year and i was praying that perhaps the problem fixed itself. But recently it started up again. I don't know what to do. Every vet i have taken him to say that they have never seen anything like this. Oh i forgot to mention that my cat was born without a tail. I need help, I hate having to make him wear his cone everyday! He looks so pitiful. Anyone out there that has any information please answer back I'm desperate. Thanks

I want to suggest putting him on an all canned food diet. Taking away the dry food. This just may do just as the expensive food did, but won't cost you an arm and a leg.

He should also be neutered.

I second wet food. Try to find grain free canned.. If you have a trader Joes near you, they have good canned food for fair price

Take him to the vet. I would want him checked for urinary crystals and stones. You need to put him back on his prescription diet.

Licking, and going after that area is common when the cat has pain there, he could have an infection in there as well making it itch.  Either way you need a vet.

A urinary blockage can kill your cat. Please get him treated.

He is probably chewing on it because it is uncomfortable for some reason or another.  Please take him to a vet.

There are different brands of urinary food! Some work better than others. Did you try Royal Canin SO Urinary food? It's by prescription only! It works wonders! Has the Vet done an ultrasound? Sounds like crystals or some other type or irritation that needs attention.! Sounds like your kitty needs to see a Specialist in urology or perhaps take him to a teaching hospital.  I would make the trip to wherever that is! All the best!

The vet did check him for Crystals in his urine. . He didn't have any the thing that's bothering him is the small growth he has... the doctor said she thought it was a piece of cat litter stuck to him

Do you have any veterinary specialists or teaching schools in your area?  Any cat specific hospitals?  That would be my recommendation as they may have seen something like it before,
