Pawing at walls

We rescued a stay kitten just under a year ago, she's a little shy and doesn't like loud noises, everything was going fine, until a few mouths ago she started pawing at the walls and doors. She does it alot at the door hinges, (while the door is open and against the wall she'll get between them and scratch or paw at it continully) she'll do it on the backs of the doors as well, pushing on it and closing herself in the room, then she'll cry to tell us she's stuck in one of the rooms. We open the door n a few moments latter shell be in the corner at the hinges again. She's also moved on to the back walls in cupboards mostly the laundry and kitchen cupboard (they are back to back on the same wall)
I'm not sure what started it, wether she was bored one day while we were at work and made this her new game, or if maybe she can hear something in the walls and is trying to get at it.
She hasn't damaged any walls, but the nosie is very annoying and i would love it if shed stop. So if anyone has some ideas on why she'd be doing this or how I could stop her please help :)

I will assume she is fixed. If not, that's part of the issue. She needs lots of toys to keep her busy. Along with lots of scratching boards, post, beds, rest zones. I have a scratching board in every room except my husbands room and they destroyed the settee in his room. What a waste of money. But not the cats fault, it's there nature to keep those nails in perfect condition.

Oh and she doesn't use her nails on the walls (clawing was my first thought), she paws enough that you can heard her nail just graze the wall but it's mostly her paw pads (haha if that makes since? :p)

Have you tried sprinkling cat nip on her scratching posts to encourage her to scratch them?

I use a spray product that has a very strong lemon smell on things I don't want my cats to scratch. It's supposed to be used to cover up the smell of cat pee, after you've cleaned whatever they peed on, so that they don't pee there again, but they don't like the smell of it so it stops them from scratching things too.

I'd tell you the name and the company that make it, but I live in Japan and I don't think you can get it anywhere else. Maybe you could try a pet-safe spray that has a strong citrus smell on your doors?

My cat does this, mainly as a means of getting my attention.  It's when I'm ignoring her wishes.  She uses the pads on her paws to make it as loud as possible.

We live in a very old home, over 150 years old. Everything in the house except the original walls have been replaced. Sometimes you can hear what sounds like pebbles falling between the original wall and the new sheet rock wall. Just a thought. Also it could be you have a suicidal mouse in your house running thru the walls. To stop her from closing the door on herself I would put a door stop under the door. Good luck and Happy New Years.

OMG! Great mews! There is now a organic spray for cats to stop scratching any and everything. I saw it and wasn't sure if it would work. It did! They were ripping up carpet, peeling paint off doors and one spray and they stopped. I have 5 indoor cats. Ages 1&1/2 to 18 years. I am so happy. I wished it was available years ago. It also makes your House smell good[emoji]128570[/emoji][emoji]128077[/emoji]It's called at Walmart Scratch Not by Smartycats. The company that puts out the cat-nip laced cardboard scratching post. I believe in these also. Messy, but they work. I've have over 35 years with cats. So I've learned what works for me.[emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128572[/emoji][emoji]128572[/emoji][emoji]128568[/emoji][emoji]128568[/emoji]
