. I have 4 cats. They are 11, 8, 1 and 6 months. The 8 year old was recently diagnosed with urinary tract infection and a bladder stone. She has been on a special diet for the last 2 months. She has one more monthto go and then she is allowed out of her quarantine room and allowed to come and go with the rest of the cats and share food again. I was hoping to find food that was appropriate for her to prevent a repeat problem, as well as allowing the other cats to also share the same food. Trying to feed multiple types of food is difficult. Especially with her because she is a very very frightened cat who likes to live under the bed unless my son and I are asleep or at school. That is why she is quarantined. The vet didnt want me to drag her out from under the bed for feedings. She seems content and more relaxed in her separate room. So I don't want to try and limit her eating as she might not come out and eat at all if she is limited. Thank you. The pet store suggested Blue for multiple cats.

Actually a healthy species appropriate diet will be the best for all of your kitties.  http://www.catinfo.org/  is a good resource for general info about the best diet and why it is the best.  You will need to feed a wet food.  It's best for all kitties but it is very important for a cat with a history of urinary issues.

You want a high protein low carb food.  Generally the pates are lower in carbs.  http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf  is a list of commercial cat foods with their protein, carb and fat percentages.  It's really a matter of how much you can spend.  With the grocery store brands Fancy Feast Classics and some of the Friskies pates are pretty good.  I would avoid foods that have fish as a main ingredient.

EVO, Taste of the Wild, Hound and Gatos, and Nature's Variety Instinct are some of the premium foods that are available in pet stores.

:wavey: We recently found out one of our cats was allergic to chicken which is in most cat foods. We have our cats eating Purina ONE Special Care Sensitive Systems Cat Food. After switching from Blue Buffalo Cat Food. It's like we have a new cat in the house, she went from vomiting daily and being antisocial to no vomiting and super lovey. We had our kitten on Purina Kitten Food but we catch her passing over her food bowl and going straight to the Purina ONE so it must be tasty.

Denice-Separate diets aren't feasible when the one who needs it only comes out when we care asleep or not home which prevents me from keeping the other cats out of her food. That's why I was looking for somesomething that was safe for all. : (
Cindy and shadow- I am using the Purina one for spayed and neutered cats now and noticed the kitten passes up her kitten food for it as well.
I will look into all the info when I get home. Thank you both.

I have a couple of piggy cats and so I have to feed the skinny cats out of reach of the snarfdupods. Even though you want your kitty to socialize, is there a reason not to feed her under the bed? At least during meal time, shut the door for her to eat and then leave it open after everyone has finished.

Well, the best food for your kitty that had the crystals is wet food only. Dry food may cause the problem to return. I know you want to leave food out for her, but by feeding meals, rather than leaving food out for grazing, you may find that you can use food to help socialize her.

The best food for your crystal kitty is canned food only diet with additional water added to it.  Grain free or low carbohydrate is best as grains and carbs can add to crystal formation.  Here is a website with a lot of good information about crystals and urinary tract health in cats.  http://catinfo.org/?link=urinarytracthealth  It is written by a veterinarian.

She won't eat under the bed or in the bedroom for that matter. I am hoping this isolation period gave her a new prospective bc she has been totally different during it.
