We had Chinese food at the in laws house tonight. My mother in law called us and asked if we wanted to come for dinner, so she called in an order and we picked it up and went there for dinner.
I love Chinese food and we had sooo much.

Tacos. Not the best. The grocery store was cleaned out (thanks New Years' Eve), so I didn't have all the ingredients I and BF like for our tacos, but the kids were happy!

We went out to have an early New Year's eve meal.  Husband let me choose his meal so he'd be trying some things he might not order for himself :)

I had a small Caesar dressing, salmon with goat cheese and blueberries. Sauteed yellow squash and zucchini. 1/2 of a large scoop of amaretto gelato.

Yummo!

It'll be leftovers (goulash) today. I got so little sleep last night (cats and fireworks don't mix well) that I don't trust myself cooking.

Happy New Year! Today we're having pork and sauerkraut. I took leftover pork from Christmas out of the freezer yesterday and it with the sauerkraut are in the crock pot. We always have sauerkraut as our first meal of the year. With mashed potatoes.

Happy New Year to all!  Today's dinner will be beef tenderloin, cooked sous vide style, salad, mashed cauliflower and probably some dark chocolate and nuts for dessert.

Have chili in the crock pot. Was out of venison burger so used ground beef. Kidney beans, black beans, and black-eyed peas (for luck)Made tomato sauce from our home canned tomatoes. I've done a taste test and it's pretty darn yummy. I will make some corn bread to go with it.

That sounds delicious. I didn't consider New Years' when I went grocery shopping, thus didn't think to get black-eyed peas. *smh*

As an app, I made Italian breaded zucchini fries with a Dijon garlic aioli. Dinner is going to be Bourbon chicken. And I just realized I don't have a vegetable for a side... probably should have used the zucchini for that! Oops.

Homemade Ribs!
That sounds delicious!

Leftover pork and sauerkraut for me, but I think dear Richard will be having chili from the freezer (he eats pork and sauerkraut once a year and that's it)

My husband threw some stuff in the slow cooker today. It's stewing beef, cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, gravy mix and water. We will have it over mashed potatoes.

This turned out really good and it smelled sooooo good. We threw a few mushrooms in for the last hour (would have been longer but we had to buy some).

I think we will be doing breakfast for dinner tonight, as I have some bacon that I need to get used up. I can't freeze it because I've already thawed it once and I won't re-freeze it now. There's a bit of baby Swiss leftover from our Christmas cheese wheel. I thought about surprising dear Richard with breakfast in bed Saturday morning with a frittata or something. But we have to take our car into the garage early, so we'll have to get out of bed fairly early and I'm not fiddling around with making breakfast that early.

So I'm thinking of a bacon, onion, tomato, and baby Swiss frittata with some English muffins for dinner....how's that for a combination?
I'll just throw it together and see how it turns out. Or maybe omelets. We haven't had omelets for a while either.

We have so much stuff already fixed in the fridge. Among the leftovers are spaghetti, turkey salad, black eyed peas cooked with ham, and the remained of a garlic/pepper pork lloin. I see a choice of things for dinner, already made.:lol3:
