Good morning and Happy TGIF! (And Happy last Friday of 2013!)

Question is very easy this morning: When will you take down your Christmas tree and decorations? Do you take everything down immediately on the day after Christmas? Do you wait until New Year?

We take our Christmas trees and decorations down on New Year's Day. Last year, though, dear Richard wanted to keep the tree up for an extra week, so we did so. But usually by the night of New Year's Day, the decorations are put away and the house is back to whatever passes for normal around here. I won't put my dishes away until around the end of February or so, probably around Presidents' Day weekend. I like to keep the dishes out for awhile.

I will probably take the Tacky White Tree down this Sunday while Rick is at church. Tabby has been pretty good with the tree overall. Except for the other night....Rick heard a noise in the kitchen. He walked out, just in time to see Tabby rolling out of the tree! No harm done to Tabby, but the poor branches really suffered.

Our tree and decorations come down the weekend after Christmas. When I was a kid we always had a real tree with those huge 9 watt super hot bulbs on it. The tree had to stay up until the Epiphany. The Wisemen would start off across the room when we put the tree up a few days before Christmas, then every day we'd move them closer to the nativity set under the tree until on Jan. 6 they arrived at their destination and we could finally take the tree down. By then the tree was totally devoid of needles, a bonfire waiting to happen, and I was absolutely tired of it. It's one of those things that as a child you vow to do differently when you have your own house. The Wisemen still make to the nativity set, it's just no longer tree shaded when they get there.

Depending on when l put it up, it usually comes down a few days past New Year. lf l was late putting it up, say Christmas Eve, l've been known to leave it in place into February!!

This year it was up mid-November, so l'm ready to take it down on time

Since I never put them up, I don't have to worry about taking them down.  It's been a subdued Christmas this year.

The tree usually comes down around Jan 4-6 (Traditional, my mom is Irish Catholic and dad and I are Nordic Lutherans, so we keep that aspect happily) Though we gradually/slowly take down everything else prior.

No set time. We probably will leave it up awhile because we have been on the go so much. I like to have time to sit in my living room and enjoy it.

I usually take mine down New Years Day, now Tim won't be trying to get at one of the Santa's that are on the tree.  He was pretty good but had his shall we say curious moments.  Well he is still pretty young and he probably thinks "why would you put that big thing up with all the shiny stuff and not let me climb it".

I used to take it down mid-January; but now with us having an early January baby it has to all come down before her birthday party.  So sometime the first week of January for  us.  I'm always sad to see them come down; but putting up birthday streamers and what not take the edge off!

The tree and other decorations usually come down on January 1st or 2nd, but definitely no later than the 6th.

I usually take mine down on the 1st as well. I am working the day before, (the 31st)  & the 2nd, so will probably relax on the 1st, & just do it that weekend.
