I was searching on several Pinterest boards and I came across the friskies board and they have cool DIY cat toys

I'm no expert but i've made a few lol. My first attempt was ok.

I thought I'd pass this along just in case anyone would be interested and making some for their babies.

I'll post some pics of what I did and the website to where I got the idea's from =] They have other things I'm willing to try as well.

PS- my favorite is the balls lol

And I also can't wait to incorporate great colors for the "knotty spider"

Please don't judge my knotty spider, it's no where near the tutorial one.

I can't seem to find the "long tube" with "shredded" ends buuuut it's pretty self explanatory

If you do decided to makes some, I'd love to see

Those look pretty cool.  The question is, how do the cats like them?  If they don't play with them, then it doesn't matter how lovely they look, they're worthless (and vice versa
).

Once I tried sewing some toys with catnip inside, and they were complete failures.  I made them into fishies with floppy tails and everything, and made them big enough they could even hug them and bunny kick them if they wanted, but still no go.  I was so disappointed

Some years ago I had a cat that absolutely loved thread spools.  Not any thread spools, it had to be a certain type of wooden thread spool. In fact a very had to find type of wooden thread spool because it was old and they weren't being made anymore!

So I would hunt through thrift shops to find old spools of thread, just so I could have a stash of wooden spools for her!

In the past I have crocheted little shapes and filled with with catnip, or simply sprinkled catnip on them.  Sometimes the cat goes for them, sometimes not. I've also tried making felt knots like I've seen in the Vet's office. Katie was wild for those when she was a kitten.  She either didn't like the felt, or the nip I put in, but she ignored mine in favour of the ones from the Vet.

Mia doesn't have any interest in the knotty spider but see seems to like the irresistiball. She'll run around the house batting it around running into walls. She even took it apart and started playing with the circles.

I like the look of these and think I might have a go at the ball for Mouse.
  Thank you.

i ball up some foil and put cat nip on the inside and between the folds. my cats go ape **** for it. it really makes me regret all the money, or some of the money (because some stuff they actually like) i spent on toys for them that they don't even touch.

maybe rub a bit of cat nip on the knotty spider...she might want to try playing with it then?

The irresistiball looks like a good idea for me..i'm definitely going to give that a try! thanks for posting these.

I had some thin knit anklets (socks) in my sock drawer that I was getting ready to toss.

Instead, I took one of the socks and rolled it up (from toe to ankle band) to make a stubby sausage shape, and I put it into the other sock.  Put in a few pinches of catnip, and then just tied a knot in the open end of the sock.  The cat went absolutely mad for it!  Don't know if it helped that the socks (even though washed) probably had my scent on them or not, but it makes for a very easy, and very huggable and bunny-kickable toy for my little one!  To refill with catnip, just undo the single knot, fill and re-tie.
