So I already have a thread here: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/268913/my-old-kitties-issues-chronic-pancreatitis  but wanted to specifically ask about the Adequan injections for arthrits.  The vet I work for has recommended them for DeeJay for her arthritis.  She is on steroids right now for suspected cancer, we have not confirmed that diagnoses yet.  I just want her to be as comfortable as possible.  She is on Cosequin and takes a couple of homeopathic remedies for her arthritis which have helped her as well.  Has anyone had Adequan injections for their cats?  Has it helped?

I used Adequan on Grey :rbheart: with no problems, even with CRF. I used Cosequin at first, and like most feed through supplements I didn't see real improvement. On Adequan I did. I bought it by the shot because a vial would go bad before I could use it up.

I've never tried that but Buprenophine really helped my 18+ year old cat who can now reach all parts of body whereas he was not able to before. I don't notice any druggy side-effects and it hasn't made any of his other issues get worse such as renal failure and IBD. Sorry I can't help with your specific question but this did help my guy out.

Hi cprcheetah !

There is some info on Adequan on a reputable website (authored by Helen of Tanya's site fame): http://harpsie.com/arthritis.htm (as well as info on a variety of other treatments).

LDG has also written extensively here on the use of high quality Krill oil.....you might consider sending her a PM.

(I hope this reply hasn't frustrated you....I do know your request was for something different)

Could you post the strength and dosing info you're using?

The Buprenophine he takes is 200mcg/ml and he gets 0.20cc twice a day orally for a roughly 6.7 lb male cat.

That drug is 30x stronger than morphine. It turns my cat into zombie. She was prescribed it after her foreign object surgery for pain. I was desperately trying to get her to eat after surgery, but this drug made her so high......so didn't eat. It makes somy cats hyper.

it is 30x stronger than morphine for revealing pain which is not a bad thing but if the dose is correct it should not drug the cat. My guy does not have a problem with being hyper, he is very old and was having a hard time getting around or jumping on things. Buprenophine made a huge difference in his life and now he can curl up or stretch out plus he can jump on things and although he still walks flat-footed he is more stable and doesn't seem as creaky when he moves. Like any mammal what works for one doesn't always work for another but Buprenophine sure works for him.

I have Buprenex (Buprenorphine) as she was very painful with her pancreatitis.  I do give it to her when she is having limping and such with her arthritis however we felt it may have been constipating her so I quit giving it.  She also has Tramadol although I think it made her too dopey and grumpy.  I started her on Krill Oil tonight and she loved it!  I was worried she can be a stink about things added to her food.

No frustration.  I am very open to anything and everything I can do to help DeeJay feel more comfortable.  I want her to be happy and not hurting. I also want her to live to be 50 LOL!

Thank you for this information.  I think I am going to give it a try.  Going to wait until she is done with her bladder infection though.  Question, does anyone know if it would be bad to continue the Cosequin after I start Adequan injections?  She takes it for both her arthritis and her bladder.

I don't see why you can't, but ask the vet anyway. Frankly I'm not sure you'll need it even for the bladder stuff, but I can't think of a negative effect.

Does anyone know the Krill Oil Dosage?  I am seeing anywhere from 250mg to 500mg online.
